Global Operational and Resilience Risk (ORR) is a sub function of the Group Risk function. Its purpose is to make sure HSBC understands, and is in control of its non-financial risk position. In addition, the function provides resilience risk stewardship to the global businesses, functions and entities we operate in.

**What you’ll do**:
**Impact on the Business**
- Increasing understanding of HSBC’s change execution risk profile in WPB and supporting proactive management of issues so that change is delivered safely and sustainably by the Businesses and Functions.
- Communicate Change Execution Risk policy changes to Risk Owners and BSOs and review dispensations.
- Provide education and policy oversight, challenging and guiding Risk Owners, Control Owners and BSOs to ensure adherence to policy.
- Delivers opinions on the risks posed by the change portfolios and initiatives.
**Customers and Stakeholders**
- Works closely with other Risk Stewards for Change Execution Risk to support and input towards risk oversight practices.
- Influences and provides guidance and direction to COOs, Heads of Transformation, Portfolio teams, Change Initiative sponsors and Chief Control Officers to fulfil their roles and responsibilities to manage their Change Execution Risk(s).
- Manages relationships with teams across ORR.
- Ensures their own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets as changes are delivered.
**Leadership & Teamwork**
- Influences GB / GF management so that they effectively manage Change Execution RCAs
- Understands and communicates a clear vision for Change Execution risk stakeholders in alignment with HSBC’s vision, values and strategic goals.
- Provides constructive challenge that drives accountability, positive behaviors and effective risk management.
**Operational Effectiveness & Control**
- Supports the development of enhancements to the Change Management Framework and supporting processes and procedures to ensure the Bank effectively manages risks associated with change and delivers HSBC’s strategic goals.
- Partners with business leads across the organization to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor, report and govern Change Execution risks.
- Ensures key NFR reports and governance (including escalations) adhere to requirements of both the Risk and Change Management Frameworks.
**Major Challenges**
- Building effective working relationships with stakeholders, operating with influence to ensure that NFRs are managed effectively through the execution of change.
- Maintaining a commercial understanding without compromising standards of internal control and organisational risk appetite as we seek to execute change at pace.
- Adapting quickly to changing situations.
- Influencing strategies and approaches with practical and effective commercial solutions through a comprehensive assessment of NFRs within risk appetite.
- Using experience and expertise to aiding in the mitigation of risk exposure and proactively engage with 1LOD and other Risk Stewards and Resilience Risk Specialists.
- Maintaining independence of thought and lateral thinking to assist in optimising the level of business control and maximising efficiency.
- Embedding and optimising the ORR Change Oversight services by extensively reviewing and improving existing processes, tools and MI.
Requirements
**What you will need to succeed in the role**:
- Have extensive NFR knowledge and sufficient expertise to face off appropriately to a variety of risk managers in the Group and also external parties. Recent experience in resilience risk management, key controls and processes preferred.
- Have extensive experience of Transformation and change initiatives in a 1LOD or 2LOD capacity.
- Experience in dealing with complex problems by adopting a pragmatic approach, identifying and prioritizing core requirements and translating them into a clear set of required activities that address the problem essential.
- Knowledge of the major areas of a Global Bank that can span retail, commercial or investment banking products and processes with a strong understanding of the risk characteristics / profile of key products and channels.
