Payroll Officer

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented **Payroll Executive** to join our team. The Payroll Executive will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires a solid understanding of payroll systems and procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Process bi-weekly or monthly payrolls for salaried and hourly employees.
- Ensure the accuracy of employee records, including wages, taxes, deductions, and benefits.
- Review timesheets, calculate wages, and make adjustments as necessary.
- Maintain payroll records and update information on employee compensation and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Process garnishments, tax levies, and other required payroll deductions.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual tax reports, including W-2s and 1099s.
- Address payroll-related queries from employees and management.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure smooth payroll processes.
- Assist in audits related to payroll and prepare payroll reports as needed.
- Stay up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations.
- Support year-end closing activities related to payroll.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of [X] years of experience in payroll administration.
- Strong understanding of **US federal, state, and local payroll laws**.
- Proficiency in payroll software systems (e.g., **ADP**, **Paychex**, or similar).
- Knowledge of timekeeping systems and employee attendance tracking.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees at all levels.
**Preferred Skills**:
- Certification in payroll (e.g., **Certified Payroll Professional - CPP**) is a plus.
- Experience with payroll tax reporting and year-end processing.
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll processing.
