**Position summary**:
The Associate Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) is responsible for coordinating and carrying out MEL activities in Rainforest Alliance’s project: _Transforming agricultural systems and strengthening local economies in high biodiversity areas _of India through sustainable landscape management and public-private finance_, funded by the Global Environment Facility. The position will be based in the office of Rythu Sadhikara Samstha (RySS), the State government organization, at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and maintain very close coordination with the local partners involved in the project in Andhra Pradesh. The position reports on the MEL system and evidence in Andhra Pradesh to the Rainforest Alliance’s staff and report to the Landscape Lead (Sr. Technical Associate) for the project based at RySS.

The Associate, MEL will ensure execution and reporting for the MEL system in farms and micro landscapes identified in the Andhra Pradesh region that supports the project’s result-based management. The position supports technical staff and partners through training on MEL methods, tools, and processes. The position also works closely with the RySS MEL-ICT Team to integrate this project into larger Andhra Pradesh Community-Managed Natural Farming (APCNF) systems.

**Responsibilities**:

- Support the implementation of the project’s MEL plan with the system operated by RySS to gather and analyze data from its existing activities;
- Build understanding of the team members, partners, and stakeholders on the project’s MEL plan, defined tools, processes, data gathering methodologies, data disaggregation for execution and progress reporting in AP landscapes;
- Support staff and stakeholders of the Civil Society Organization partners in understanding and collection of periodic data based on the project´s Workplan activities, and Results Framework (RF) objectives’, outcomes and output indicators;
- Follow up with partners on data collection and reporting as per MEL methods and tools. Evaluate the on-course training and support needed by partners on MEL methods and tools and enhance their capacities in collaboration with Senior Associate, MEL;
- Support the deliverable leads in maintaining and uploading relevant evidence against each planned activity in the Project Management Platform and the project´s SharePoint-based site;
- Support the definition of indicators and data collection methodologies in the project micro-landscapes;
- Support staff and partners if required, to use the Landscale platform, as a micro-landscape performance measurement tool by project-supported micro-landscape governance bodies
- Support in coordination with project staff and RySS the baseline and periodic measurement, analysis and reporting of the project´s Workplan activities and Results Framework (RF) objectives´, outcomes´ and output indicators, to assess the project´s progress against RF targets and its contribution to change using the methodologies defined in the RF.
- Support in coordination with Sr Technical Associate (MEL) the assessment of RySS´s cost-benefit analyses to better understand farmers’ value of implementing project-endorsed sustainable agricultural practices, to improve farmer training programmes, and to document the “business case” of sustainable agriculture for farmers in RYSS´s current sphere of influence and elsewhere and identify potential investors.
- Contribute to the design of TOR for the project´s mid-term and end of project external reviews and case studies of project achievements, and support reviewers in the field, as needed.
- Contribute to the drafting of reports/studies to donors and other stakeholders.
- Undertake other tasks as assigned from time to time.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in International Development, Agriculture, Social Sciences, Economics, Natural Resources Management or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in similar position, including minimum of 2 years of experience conducting Program MEL activities for designing, delivery and impact assessments of programs and projects, and/or related studies.
- Experience with computer Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher).
- Experience with use of software (STATA, SPSS, KOBO Toolbox, CSPro, R) for evaluation studies and GIS software.
- Concrete experience in co-designing and implementation of cost-effective performance-based and community-based monitoring systems, and the collection, management, analysis and reporting of high-quality output and outcome indicator data.
- Experience advising and supervising field teams or consultants in the collection of field data on social, environmental and/or agronomic and/or socioeconomic indicators for performance assessment, and in the use of associated field methods and tools (household surveys, farm monitoring, etc.).
