**EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE**

Advanced university degree in Rural Development, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Livestock or related environmental science /other related field or First level University Degree and/or certification courses/trainings in the field, with additional two years of related work professional experience in this sector.

Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English and Hindi; ability to speak in other Indian languages is a plus.

**ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT**

The WFP is the largest humanitarian organisation **delivering food assistance in emergencies** and **working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience**. WFP’s policy on Climate Change commits it to preventing acute hunger and investing in climate action
- at both government and community levels - of the international frameworks including Paris Agreement and disaster risk reduction adopted in Sendai, Japan, in 2015.

WFP India’s Country Strategic Plan (CSP, 2023-2027) outlines its commitments to contribute to the efforts of Indian government in achieving their targets under SDG 2 and connected SDG 5 and 13. WFP works with a variety of State and Central Ministries to take this agenda forward. Realizing India’s growing willingness and potential to provide technical support in the area of building resilience for sustainable food and nutrition security with a focus on strengthening adaptive capacities, climate resilient food systems and livelihoods with following two main outputs:

- Stakeholders at national and state levels have strengthened capacities to address food security and nutrition issues in disaster and climate-response mechanisms.
- National climate response mechanisms are strengthened to improve community-level resilience and adaptation to natural shocks and other climate events.

**JOB PURPOSE AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Not all inclusive)**

The Programme Policy Officer (Climate Resilient Livelihoods) will support WFP operations under CSP Outcome 4 in partnering with state government departments to support promotion of resilient livelihoods (farm and non-farm) for small holder farmers and marginalized communities.

In particular, to lead the implementation of a project on ‘Building Resilience of Small-holder women farmers through use of Solar based Technologies’ (S4R) in collaboration with the Government of Odisha, Department of Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment in two blocks of Ganjam district. The project aims to improve climate resilience and sustainable nutritional security by use the solar technology for drying the horticulture produce and other produce and build linkages for its marketing. The position will work in close collaboration with the state Agriculture Department, other relevant departments/agencies and will also provide technical inputs to other national and regional projects supported by WFP.
