The Wholesale Business Risk Financial Crime team been brought together in line with HSBC investor commitments in February 2020, and as a result, this is an opportunity to shape a key component of HSBC’s future state in Business Non-Financial Risk across the Commercial Banking (CMB) and Global Banking (GB) businesses.

Core to the Group’s NFR management is the Governance framework to manage non-financial crime risk across all of the pillars within this space and in this role specially around Sanctions, Anti Money Laundering (AML, PEPs, Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) and Negative News Screening (NNS) and Internal Exits. This role will ensure that all policy and governance relating to the different risk typologies that are updated in various Lines of Business procedures and Line of Business procedures that relate to sanctions.

The purpose of this role is fourfold:

- Wholesale Name Screening Lead covering name screening for CMB and GBM for Sanctions, AML and Fraud.
- Oversight and work flow improvements for Customer Name Screening (Sanctions and Non-Sanctions) in addition to improving the Actionable Intelligence work flow management with front line teams.
- Work closely with NFR and BFCR regional teams to advise and support on customer screening.
- Own the new to bank screening process for GBM and CMB customers.

**The Opportunity**:
In this role you will:

- Manage relationships with stakeholders across a breadth of functions and businesses e.g. Regional BFCR Teams, Global and Regional Sanctions and Non-Sanctions Teams, Global, Regional Reputational Risk, Financial Crime Detection teams and other key FC stakeholders globally.
- In the first instance, the role will have a change element to it. Reviewing the landscape of policy screening requirements across all regions ensuring compliance with Global Sanctions and AML Policies, with a focus on materially reducing false positive hits rates associated with customer name screening.
- Have significant exposure to senior executive management and is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to position themselves in a key component of HSBC’s regulatory agenda, broadening the role holder’s knowledge of CMB and GB’s global business in addition to working with FC teams specially the Group Sanctions team, Financial Crime Detection team, Fraud teams and the Global AML Team.
- Roll out training to front line to update or refresh on Sanction, Fraud and AML Risk associated with Name Screening.

**Governance and Committee Memberships (membership of ExCos, Risk Management Meeting)**
- Regular contributions to the Wholesale BFCR Oversight Committee on Screening
- Global Sanctions List Management Committee
- Global Sanctions Name Screening Committee

**What you’ll do**:
**Accountabilities for Business, Customers and Stakeholders**

- Management and oversight of an effective screening framework that provides the necessary management control and rigour to allow effective and consistent CMB & GB wide management of non-financial risk.
- Key contributor to the efficient management of the function’s general operation specially around false positives and Front Line experience.
- Support the Regional BFCR Teams, Group Sanctions and AML in the management of customer screening risks.
- Develop/manage/enhance the function’s control structures/MI and governance constructs.

- Wider BFCR colleagues (including regional leads and Global Head of BFCR)
- Sanctions, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, Legal and other functions

**Leadership & Teamwork***
- Build ‘trusted advisor’ relationships with internal customers at a global and regional level to understand their objectives.
- Understand and manage client/stakeholders’ requirements and expectations to ensure their satisfaction.
- Accept overall responsibility and accountability for deliverables as required.
- Champion diversity across the NFR construct.
