Restaurant Captain

**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Guest Service & Satisfaction**:
- Greet and seat guests with a warm, welcoming demeanor, ensuring an exceptional first impression.
- Manage guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally, ensuring their dining experience is seamless.
- Provide personalized recommendations for food, wine, and beverages based on guest preferences.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and attention to detail throughout the dining experience.
- **Team Leadership & Supervision**:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the waitstaff, ensuring they are delivering prompt, efficient, and courteous service.
- Provide guidance and support to servers, helping them with tasks such as taking orders, managing guest requests, and ensuring appropriate table settings.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings to review daily specials, important guest requests, and any updates related to the restaurant's operations.
- Monitor staff performance, providing feedback and support where needed to maintain service standards.
- **Managing the Flow of Service**:
- Oversee the dining area to ensure proper table settings, cleanliness, and timely service.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure that food and drinks are prepared and delivered in a timely manner.
- Ensure that guests are served in a timely and efficient manner, with special attention to timing and pacing of courses.
- Manage multiple sections, balancing the needs of the guests and the flow of service.
- **Order Management & Communication**:
- Take and process food and beverage orders, ensuring accuracy in communication with both guests and kitchen staff.
- Relay guest preferences, special dietary requirements, and allergies to kitchen staff.
- Ensure that orders are placed, prepared, and served to meet the restaurant’s high standards.
- **Upselling & Revenue Generation**:
- Upsell menu items and promotions to guests, enhancing their dining experience while increasing sales.
- Encourage guests to try specialty items, wine pairings, or premium beverages to enhance their overall experience.
- **Training & Development**:
- Train and mentor new waitstaff, ensuring they understand restaurant procedures, menu offerings, and service standards.
- Conduct ongoing training sessions for the team to ensure they are well-versed in customer service techniques, menu knowledge, and health & safety regulations.
- **Health & Safety Compliance**:
- Ensure that all service areas and staff follow health and safety standards, including food handling, hygiene, and alcohol service protocols.
- Ensure that all guests are of legal drinking age and are served responsibly.
- **Operational Efficiency**:
- Assist with maintaining inventory and restocking items necessary for service, such as tableware, silverware, condiments, and beverages.
- Monitor restaurant cleanliness, including the dining room, bar, and restroom areas, ensuring they meet the establishment's high standards.
- **Other Duties**:
- Assist in opening and closing procedures as needed, including setting up and breaking down the dining area.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager or senior staff to ensure the smooth operation of the restaurant.
