Experience (10 + years of experience) - Working at a bank, insurer, asset manager or financial institution - Experience working with a variety of local and international stakeholders and clients - Leading delivery for a business function, at a bank, insurer, asset manager or financial institution and understanding of applicable regulations on climate risk - Climate risk modelling for purposes of physical and transition risks, including but not limited to scenario analysis, model development, ESG scorecards or metrics. - Working knowledge of key regulatory or guidelines around climate risk including PRDA, BES, BIS, NYDFS or other relevant and applicable regulations. - Experience on Model Risk Management, hands-on quantitative modelling, or model validation experience - Working experience in climate risk modelling platforms is a plus. - Collaboration with international organizations (e.g., UN, World bank, OCDE) a plus - Experience developing clear and robust documentation for models Job Responsibilities - Lead technical areas where climate risk is affecting clients such as banks, insurance, asset managers and financial institutions - Develop models and implement new methodologies, including climate risk scenario analysis, ESG modelling - Support multiple business functions including technical and non-technical. - Weekly/monthly research on key trends of climate risk, and support special research projects as needed - Prepare reports, presentations and other types of documentation - Organize and execute complex tasks with short time scales - Stakeholder management and ongoing project progress update - Collaborate and support other CRISIL functions and teams - Keep up with climate risk news and trends - Qualification - At least MSc. degree in quantitative fields such as mathematics, statistics or equivalent, PhD preferred, environmental degree acceptable. - Climate Risk certification is a plus, e.g., SCR from GARP - Frequent speaker at professional conferences in climate risk a plus - Publication of whitepapers or tough leadership research in climate risk a plus Skills - Detailed and team oriented - Good attitude towards researching, learning and implementing new areas - Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English - Ability to work with onsite and with offshore teams effectively - Ability to engage and communicate timely with different stakeholders, clients and team members based in different countries. - Knowledge of different domains such as risk management including is highly recommended - Data Base management skills and SQL knowledge - Deep understanding of ESG and Climate Risk modelling for different sectors for physical and transition risks - Strong programming skills in one or more of the following: VB, R, and Python, etc. - Scenario analysis for climate risk for IPCC/IEA and NGFS scenarios - TCDF knowledge and ability to conduct gap assessment - High degree of familiarity with PD, LGD, EL models, credit risk assessment and climate risk adjustments. Linkages of scenario pathways to financial data, eventually translating into forecasted PDs, internal ratings, expected losses - Forecasting skills, comparison of portfolio-specific expected credit losses over a 30-year period across multiple scenario pathways - Selection of variables to be based on a combination of financially material metrics, availability of data, metrics commonly used by third-party raters - Familiarity with annual reports, financial statements, financial variables, metrics and macroeconomic variables - Knowledge of ESG KPI metrics and modeling
