Objective: As the Design Lead - Civil & Structural, the person is required to strictly adhere to the schedule of the ongoing projects.

  1. He shall also be responsible for adherence to the resource allocated, for self & subordinates, for the project (man-hours) for smooth & timely completion by checking of the designs, drawings and other deliverables for the projects.
  2. In addition, he shall be directly responsible for ensuring submission of deliverables, on time, to the clients.
  3. The Design Lead shall be required to lead the engineering activities covering the full cycle of works from pre-bid engineering to detailed engineering and extend engineering related support to Project site team in execution and commissioning.

She / He shall lead a team of Engineers and draftspersons to manage the Engineering activities within budget, deliver on time and maintaining a high quality of engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collecting inputs for project details (plot details, feeder arrangements etc.) from client & Project Engineering Manager
  2. Collecting inputs for project details (General Arrangement Drawings) from Vendors
  3. Preparing civil & structural deliverables such as buildings, Gantry, equipment structures, drainage systems, Cable trenches, roads etc.
  4. Submission of requirement of man-hours for undertaking & reviewing of design & drawings of the project
  5. Reviewing of BOQ and submission to contracts team and providing technical clarifications
  6. Reviewing of design & drawings, made by Design Engineers & Draftsman & checking of design & calculations and obtaining approvals from the client
  7. Coordination with multiple disciplines for ensuring inter-departmental checks
  8. Providing support & clarifications to the Site Execution team
  9. Checking of pre-award evaluation of vendors (w.r.t. technical specifications requirement of the client) and forwarding the validation document to Supply Chain Management
  10. Clarification of conflict w.r.t. the design & requirements of the client to the Site Execution Team

Technical Expertise:

The Design Lead is required to have an overall knowledge of

  1. RCC & Steel Structures,
  2. Outdoor Gantry & equipment Structures,
  3. Transformer/Reactor Foundations & Soak Pit,
  4. Site grading,
  5. Other outdoor services like drainage system, roads, cable trenches, etc.
  6. She / He is also required to have hands on experience of design Software viz. STAAD Pro., ETABS.
  7. Indian and International codes as applicable for the Engineering activities

Exposure in Precast Concrete, PEB Building designs preferred.

The Design Lead should also have detailed knowledge of Substation equipment and their Layouts.

Furthermore, she / he should have the basic and detailed understanding of civil & structural drawings, GA drawings of equipment & gantry towers, foundation for transformers & other electrical equipment in Substation & Transmission Lines

Software Skills Required: Proficient in

  1. STAAD Pro,
  2. ETABSPreferred
  3. Awareness SAP, AUTOCAD, REVIT & TEKLA preferable
