With AI-driven approaches revolutionizing small molecule drug design, protein-ligand interactions, and predictive ADMET modeling, our clients require expert technical guidance and strategic IP support to secure robust patent protection and navigate regulatory pathways.
Role Description
We are seeking a Medicinal Chemist (Ph.D.) with a deep understanding of small molecule drug discovery, synthetic chemistry, and structure-based drug design. This role is ideal for someone who has:
Strong expertise in medicinal chemistry, pharmacokinetics, and computational drug discovery
Experience with AI/ML tools in drug development, virtual screening, and cheminformatics
Exceptional scientific writing skills, including patents, publications, and regulatory documents
Working in a hybrid capacity from our Bangalore, India location, you will travel a few times a year to either Phoenix, Arizona or Mountain View, California to collaborate directly with our U.S. team and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Medicinal Chemistry & Drug Discovery Suppor t
Conduct research on AI-assisted molecular design, hit-to-lead optimization, and novel therapeutic targets.
Analyze and interpret structure-activity relationships (SAR) and computational docking studies.
Stay up to date with emerging drug modalities, including PROTACs, RNA-based therapeutics, and small molecule inhibitors.
Intellectual Property & Technical Documentation
Draft, review, and edit patent-related documentation for small molecule drugs and AI-driven drug discovery innovations.
Translate complex research findings into clear, concise scientific reports, white papers, and regulatory submissions.
Stay current with USPTO guidelines on AI-assisted inventions, pharmaceutical patents, and FDA regulatory frameworks.
Collaboration with IP & R&D Teams
Work alongside patent attorneys, scientific advisors, computational chemists, and biotech clients.
Participate in invention disclosure meetings to ensure accuracy in patent filings and documentation.
Develop technical materials to support IP strategy for AI-based drug discovery.
Publication & Thought Leadership
Publish in peer-reviewed journals and contribute to conference presentations in medicinal chemistry and AI-driven drug discovery.
Create educational materials, webinars, and knowledge-sharing resources for the firm and its clients.
Client Engagement & Strategic Consultation
Interface with biotech startups, pharmaceutical companies, and AI-driven drug discovery platforms.
Provide guidance on best practices for documenting new chemical entities (NCEs) and small molecule development pipelines.
Advise on regulatory challenges related to AI-assisted hit identification and drug repurposing strategies.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
1-5 years of post-Ph.D. experience in small molecule drug discovery, computational chemistry, or synthetic chemistry.
Strong background in structure-based drug design, cheminformatics, and molecular docking.
Hands-on experience with AI/ML applications in drug discovery (e.g., generative chemistry, virtual screening, QSAR modeling).
Understanding of pharmaceutical patenting and regulatory pathways (USPTO, FDA, EMA guidelines preferred).
Strong scientific writing skills, with a track record of patents, peer-reviewed publications, or regulatory submissions.
Ability to collaborate across disciplines, including chemistry, biology, AI, and IP law.
Willingness to travel to the United States (Phoenix, AZ or Mountain View, CA) a few times a year.
