Job Title: Fabric Data EngineerLocation: [Remote]Type: [Contract]Project Duration: 3 monthsAbout the Role:We are seeking a skilled Fabric Data Engineer to support a key modernization initiative: migrating an on-premises SQL Server 2016 data warehouse to Microsoft Fabric.
This role involves designing and building new data pipelines, as well as testing and validating pipelines created by other developers to ensure they meet quality, performance, and business requirements.The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Python, Power BI, and legacy SSIS, along with a strong background in data quality assurance and pipeline debugging.Key Responsibilities:Design, build, and deploy scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric tools.Test and perform quality assurance on pipelines created by other developers, ensuring alignment with requirements and standards.Assist in migrating legacy SSIS packages to Fabric-native solutions such as Dataflows or Pipelines.Develop transformation logic using Python, T-SQL, and other Fabric-compatible tools.Work with ADF, Power BI, and the broader Azure ecosystem to support data ingestion and reporting needs.Identify, document, and resolve pipeline issues, data inconsistencies, or performance bottlenecks.Maintain detailed documentation of pipelines, workflows, and QA results.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, BI developers, and business analysts.Required Qualifications:5+ years of experience in data engineering, including pipeline development and testing.Proficiency with Microsoft Fabric, including Data Pipelines, Dataflows, and Lakehouse environments.Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Python, and Power BI.Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2016, T-SQL, and experience working with SSIS.Proven ability to test, validate, and debug complex ETL/ELT processes.Familiarity with Dev Ops practices and version control systems (e.g., Git).Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in cloud data warehouse modernization projects.Knowledge of data governance, security, and Fabric capacity management.Familiarity with CI/CD processes for data pipeline deployment.
