Position: Procurement Engineer
Location: Malumachampatti, Coimbatore
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze Production/Project schedules and requirements to plan procurement of raw materials, components, and consumables.
Develop and implement strategies to manage procurement risks and ensure timely delivery.
Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong relationships.
Conduct vendor assessments to ensure compliance with quality, cost, and delivery expectations.
Monitor vendor performance through periodic visit and reviews.
Maintain good relationship with the vendors and maintaining their records for the payment to be done.
Source of components such as PLCs, VFDs, ACBs, MCCBs, MPCBs, MCBs, Power Capacitors, Power & Control Contactors, Control/ Power Relays, Measuring Relays & Instruments, Aluminium/Copper Busbars, Control/Power Cables, Panel Enclosures, Fasteners and other electrical parts for the panel board manufacturing.
Ensure inventory level of consumables or ‘C’ class items are optimized in the Stores to avoid production delays or overstocking.
Collaborate with the Stores to ensure all the purchased materials are received as per the vendor’s documents, In line with the PO and as per the BOM shared by Project/Production/Engineering Team.
Negotiate pricing within the Budget, Payment Terms, and Delivery conditions with vendors to achieve cost savings.
Track market trends and material price fluctuations to make informed procurement decisions.
Collaborate with the Quality Control team to ensure all purchased materials meet the required technical and quality standards.
Address and resolve any issues related to material defects or non-conformities.
Prepare and maintain purchase orders, contracts,BOM, procurement reports and budget/balance sheets.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Design, Engineering, Production, and Project Teams to understand technical specifications and project needs.
Provide feedback to the Engineering/Project Team regarding the availability and cost implications of the materials.
Timely requesting of critical, advance, Labour’s Payments and PDCs which are required for the raw materials, panels and Projects.
Requesting of Vendor’s and Contractor’s payments periodically.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2-4 years of experience in procurement, preferably in Automation and Electrical Panel Board manufacturing or a similar industry.
Familiarity with Electrical Components/PLCs/VFDs and Systems used in the Control Panel Boards.
Skills:
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities to handle procurement challenges.
Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in supply chain management.
