Head of Legal

The Head of Legal and Compliance India is responsible for overseeing legal and compliance matters across three entities: Goodyear India (GIL), South Asia Tyres Ltd (SATL), and Goodyear Technical Center (GTC). The role partners with the APAC Legal team in Shanghai and Corporate Team in the US, as well the Treasury, Tax and Finance teams to advise business and functional personnel on regulatory, governance, SEBI compliance, and corporate transactions in India.

S/he will oversee all court cases, litigations, criminal/civil cases and legal suits related to trade and industrial cases in order to ensure tactful settlement with minimum financial impact to Goodyear's business. S/he will also be responsible for for resolution of all audit related disputes amicably in order to ensure smooth compliance with audit process. They will organize and record Annual General Shareholder meetings, Audit Committee and Board meetings to keep all stakeholders informed about Goodyear's business and ensure compliance with the statutory norms as per Companies Act in India.

Job Duties / Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

• For 3 legal entities Goodyear India (GIL), South Asia Tyres Ltd (SATL), Goodyear Techincal Center (GTC): Work closely with the management to evaluate & mitigate legal impact of major decisions where applicable law, regulations, or facts of the case are unclear, controversial, or conflicting
• Ensure that the organization complies with its governing document, company law and any other relevant legislations or regulations to safeguard good name and values of the organization. Oversight for compliance-related matters, invesitgation outcome reporting, mitigation measures implementation.
• To support the Management by ensuring smooth functioning of the Board and Board Committees including Audit Committees.
• Appoint law partner associates, partner with them in preparation of cases for litigation, reviewing complex documents relating to transactions in which the company is to participate explain cases to partner attorneys and brainstorm effective solutions within the legal framework.
• Prepare legal documents and papers, prepare cases and contracts, proofread the document before submission to a law partner for review, negotiate with outside parties, render legal opinions and represent the company in all legal matters.

Key Experience

• LL.B from a reputed law school/ university. Desired: Company Secretary experience.
• 15+ years of experience in Corporate Legal, Company Secretariat, Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, and Regulatory Affairs.
• Proven track record of managing compliance for listed companies, board-level advisory, litigation management, and corporate governance.
• Experience across audit, M&A, tribunal, settlements, policy, government/ regulatory engagement valued.
• Strong corporate legal and compliance knowledge and regulatory affairs expertise.
• Experience in governance and board-level advisory. Listed company experience valued.
• Proven track record in litigation and dispute resolution.
