Intern-financial analyst

Duration 3 months (with possibility of conversion to full-time based on performance) Purpose of the Role As part of the finance team at Planify Capital, the intern will support financial planning & analysis (FP&A), investment monitoring, reporting, and strategic decision-making. Given the requirement of CFA Level III clearance, we expect a high calibre candidate who can contribute meaningfully from day one. Key Responsibilities Assist in preparation of monthly & quarterly financial reports, dashboards and presentations for senior management. Build, update and maintain financial models (e.g., forecasting, budgeting, valuations) to support business units and investment decisions. Analyse business performance: variance analysis (actual vs budget/forecast), identify drivers, prepare commentary and actionable insights. Support investment/portfolio monitoring: evaluate key metrics, track performance, prepare investment memos/scorecards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, sales, risk, HR) to gather inputs and align on financial planning. Help with implementation and enhancement of reporting tools and processes—process improvements, automation in Excel / BI tools. Conduct ad-hoc financial and market research (industry trends, competitor benchmarking, regulatory changes) and present findings. Ensure adherence to internal controls, documentation of assumptions and model logic, support audit/tracking activities. Assist with employer-branding and internal communications by preparing finance-related content for stakeholder updates. Required Qualifications & Skills Cleared CFA Level III (or equivalent qualification) — mandatory. Master's degree in Finance, Commerce, Economics or equivalent; MBA/PG Diploma in Finance is a plus. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, modelling) and ideally Power Point. Basic knowledge of financial modelling, valuations, budgeting & forecasting. Analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, make actionable recommendations. Good written & verbal communication skills. Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Prior internship or project experience in finance, FP&A, investments or related domain is an advantage. Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) or SQL is a plus, though not mandatory. Preferred Attributes Demonstrated interest in capital markets, investments, or corporate finance. Proactive attitude: identifies opportunities for process improvements, automation and reporting enhancements. Team player with collaborative approach, yet capable of working independently. Comfortable working in a startup/scale-up environment where roles are dynamic and evolving. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Internship Accuracy and timeliness of monthly/quarterly financial reports. Quality and utility of financial models delivered (measured via stakeholder feedback). Number of actionable insights identified and implemented. Process improvement initiatives proposed and implemented (e.g., reducing manual effort, automating reports). Contribution to presentations/reports for senior leadership, and positive feedback from those stakeholders. Adherence to deadlines, error rates in analysis, and documentation completeness.
