Job Description:

We are seeking a driven and skilled Founding Engineer with expertise in both backend and frontend technologies. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development of Oculon’s core platform, working on building and scaling a complex system that handles large datasets and AI-driven business intelligence workflows. You will be instrumental in shaping our tech stack, designing system architecture, and driving performance optimizations for a next-gen B2B SaaS product.

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth startup in its early stages, working closely with the founding team to build a product that can disrupt the planning and FP&A space. As the company scales, you’ll have the opportunity to grow into a leadership role and make a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities:

- System Architecture & Backend Development: Lead the design and development of a scalable and robust backend system using Python, ensuring high performance- Data Integration: Design and maintain APIs that seamlessly connect our frontend and backend, supporting real-time data flow and efficient processing.- Frontend Development (Next.js): Collaborate with the frontend team to develop a responsive, intuitive, and high-performing user interface.- Cloud Infrastructure: Work with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to ensure smooth deployment, scalability, and monitoring of the platform.- Collaboration with AI/ML Team: Collaborate with the AI/ML team to integrate advanced forecasting models and AI-driven insights into the platform.- Database Management: Design and optimize SQL databases for large-scale data processing, ensuring data integrity and performance.- Product Development: Work closely with the founders and product team to build and refine features that solve key customer problems in business planning and FP&A.- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to junior developers and participate in code reviews, ensuring the highest standards of code quality and best practices.

Requirements:

- Proven experience in full-stack development, with a focus on backend development using Python and frontend technologies such as Next.js and typescript- Expertise in building and managing SQL databases, with a deep understanding of performance optimization and data integrity.- Experience with API development and integration with real-time data sources.- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and DevOps practices for seamless deployment and maintenance.- Strong understanding of system architecture, data structures, and algorithms.- Proven track record in building scalable SaaS products, preferably within the B2B space.- A hands-on, problem-solving mindset with a willingness to figure things out and innovate as needed.- Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage time and priorities effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.

Good to Have:

- Previous experience in a leadership or technical lead role within a startup environment.- Understanding of finance, FP&A, or fintech tools.- Experience in building tools for finance teams or working in a B2B SaaS company.
