Title:Senior Network Engineer
Location: Hawaii
Duration: 12 months CTH
Rate: $ 45 60/hr

TheSenior Network Engineer (SNE) is a senior levelengineering position within IT Services and a member of the ITEnterprise Network Infrastructure team. The SNE is expected toprovide technical leadership in supporting Matsons Networkinfrastructure in support of business operations as well as allnetwork infrastructure and enterprisewide services. The SNE willinteract with company personnel at all levels. He or she isexpected to develop and maintain relationships with managers andother staff members within IT Services as well as vendors andservice providers. The SNE is expected to provide technicalexpertise in the identification evaluation selection and design ofenterprise level technical solutions supporting Matson initiatives.He or she is expected to adhere to industry standards and bestpractices and assist in developing Matsons corporate standards forenterprisewide network hardware and operations. The SNE is expectedto be able to assign tasks and monitor the work of less seniorengineers.

What youlldo:

  • Designs enterprisewideinfrastructure specifications configurations and solutions.Possesses a deep understanding of Matsons enterprise architecturenetwork hardware network design tools and vendors.
  • Develops and ensures adherence to corporate standardsaffecting enterprise hardware software networks andsecurity.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge ofMatsons business and continually expands on thisknowledge.
  • Identifies and implements withmanagement approval opportunities for cost savings and improvementsin operating effectiveness.
  • Possesses anindepth knowledge of technology and is able to present and advisethe business implications of a particular solution or a change intechnological direction. Able to routinely apply business insightsto guide and influence the design of technically robustsolutions.
  • Establishes relationships withProject Managers and analysts. Presents alternative technicalscenarios for consideration to resolve business and/or developmentissues.
  • Develops efficient methods andprocesses to ensure a high level of system availability andprovides regular reports to management regarding effectiveness forthe scope of operations.
  • Performs oncallresponsibilities for production support of Matson enterprisenetwork infrastructure as needed. This may be required on offhoursor on weekends.

You havethese skills:

  • Directexperience in an IT network infrastructure and operationsenvironment with responsibility for network technicalprojects.
  • Thorough knowledge of varioushardware operating and system software security products and voiceand data communications.
  • Strong awareness ofindustry trends/issues and emerging technologies and able tovisualize their relevance to Matsons business needs and communicateand advise management accordingly.
  • Can makerecommendations on WAN & LAN design; WAN traffic acceleration& prioritization; Wireless coverage in closed spaces (offices& warehouses) as well as open spaces (Port terminals); ishighly skilled in network monitoring &troubleshooting.
  • Specific knowledge andexperience with:
  • TCP/IPand all layers of the OSI model
  • MPLSmanagement
  • Network monitoring tools
  • Network hardware products including: Cisco routersswitches firewalls WAPs and WLCs; Aruba APs and Controllers; PaloAlto firewalls.
  • Network technologies andprotocols including: TCP/IP MPLS BGP OSPF QoS HSRP GLBP VTP STPSMTP SNMP VPN/DMVPN and 802.11

And these qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from a fouryear college oruniversity or equivalent technical certification isdesirable.
  • CCNA required.
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of experience in networktechnologies in use on the Matson Enterprise network.
  • Handson experience in six (6) to eight (8) Matsontechnologies.
  • Ability to travel(1020%).

Extra credit ifyou have:

  • Knowledge ofVoIP telephone systems and technologies including those from Avayaand Cisco desirable but not required.
  • CCNPand/or CCIE
