Alstom’s Global Finance Centres have 3 Controlling hubs in Cluj (Romania), Cebu (Philippines) and Bangalore (India). These centres provide Controlling services to various regions and the activities include support to Project Controllers (work package controlling, light project controlling, other support activities); Site controlling activities (support on industrial controlling, overhead analysis), business performance groups (region FP&A support on cash controlling, operations finance) and are likely to expand to include other transactional support in controlling activities performed currently in regions.
As the Global FP&A Tower Lead, the incumbent will manage all aspects related to the delivery of FP&A Operations for Bangalore GFC , people management (talent selection, hiring, onboarding, training, retention, engagement and growth), cost controllership and resource billings, driving standardization & continuous improvement / quality focus, SLA adherence and delivery of any further transitions on such scope into the GFC from regions
As a key member of the GFC Controlling team, the role requires partnering with other GFC Leads, with Region organizations & stakeholders, evolving standard operating mechanisms and practices, participating during transition and KT discussions on controlling for their work streams, developing the controlling capability within GFC, lead service reviews with regions and partnering with sites to drive customer satisfaction and service excellence. (GFC is a significant driver for the Finance in motion strategic plan and Finance Delivery Plan with an overall sizing currently of nearly 700 people, located in different countries with plans to expand service offering in Controlling areas)
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership :
- As part of the GFC organization, the incumbent will be responsible for achievement of financial targets vs budget and driving cost improvements, efficiencies on controlling organization in GFC.
- Strengthen finance capability and talent pool and fostering a culture of customer focus, operational excellence, inclusion and diversity. The Global FP&A Leader must bring strong FP&A experience to develop the GFC teams and step up their understanding of controlling activities related to their work stream, and related Alstom Finance practices. This will generate a strong talent pool of controllers who can support the regions in the future. Due to the start up nature of this team, the leader must be hands on and willing to train and mentor the current and new FP&A analysts in GFCs and share knowledge and ways of working. The leader must also have a transformation and continous improvement mindset and the ability to improve operational metrics, thereby delivering value to key internal customers through improvements in data analytics,team capability, processes efficiencies, technology & innovation to improve service and reduce overall cost allocations to regions
Financial Planning & Operations Management :
- Managing region delivery expectations on controlling and reporting scope, generating efficiencies via standardization of reports, activities and processes across sites, accelerating automation efforts and strong/structured transition management from regions to GFC’s
- Prepares budgets and forecasts for the GFC Controlling teams and identifies areas to improve resource utilization and productivity.
- Identify areas to reduce cost, waste, improve productivity and resource utilization.
- Develop necessary management tools to measure and monitor performance to enable early warnings and anticipation of any capacity and other challenges, especially on projects being transitioned and going live.
- Strategize and deploy appropriate governance practices and oversight on compliance with various finance rules.
- Develops analytical insights and systems solutions to pave the path for set up of a data factory in GFC's that support the regions/Clusters.
- Timely month end, quarter end and year end close processes on controlling scope.
- Driving strong service reviews with the regions to promote 2-way dialogue on status of various scopes, roadblocks, improvement plans and support required at both ends to meet targeted KPI's and achieve industry standards.
Region Stakeholder & Other Relationships :
- Develops a strong working and partnering relationship with various Country and Region Management teams to improve customer feedback mechanisms, KPI measurement practices, resolution of various customer concerns. Works with customers to strive for improved customer satisfaction.
- Manage key external relationships - auditors, consultants and others
- Working closely with IS&T and other regional BPO teams to ensure smooth deployment of any controlling related systems and convergence plans to realize the related benefits
People :
- Build a strong resilient internal finance team that supports the Regions on their deliverables
- Team capability assessment, development and upskilling, talent pipeline & flex/capacity planning, including hiring, retention, talent development, exposure , talent management.
- Posing as a coach and mentor to the teams and identifying synergies, competency assessments

Educational Requirements
Chartered or Cost Accounting Degree
Experience 12-18 years of relevant finance experience
