A Senior Product Developer specializing in ERP systems with expertise in either Python or .NET is a highly sought-after role in the software development industry. This position typically involves:

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and Developing ERP Features:

Analyzing business requirements and translating them into technical specifications for new features and modules within an ERP system. This includes coding, unit testing, and ensuring the functionality meets user needs.

  • System Maintenance and Enhancement:

Maintaining and enhancing existing ERP functionalities, including troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving complex technical issues in both development and production environments.

  • Technical Leadership and Mentoring:

Guiding and mentoring junior developers, conducting code reviews, sharing best practices, and providing technical support to the development team.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborating closely with product owners, business analysts, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features on time and effectively communicate technical details and limitations.

  • Staying Current with Technology:

Keeping up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development, particularly within the chosen technology stack (Python or .NET) and ERP domain.

  • Documentation and Process Improvement:

Documenting implementations, patterns, and processes, and contributing to improving development workflows and CI/CD pipelines.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Programming Expertise:

Strong proficiency in either Python (with frameworks like Django or Flask) or .NET (with C#, .NET Core/.NET Framework, and potentially front-end frameworks like Angular or React).

  • ERP Domain Knowledge:

Proven experience in developing and maintaining ERP software, with familiarity in concepts related to finance, supply chain, manufacturing, etc. Experience with specific ERP systems like Epicor, SAP, Oracle NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics is highly valued.

  • Database Skills:

Strong understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and experience with data modeling and querying.

  • API Development:

Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining robust APIs using RESTful services and tools like Swagger/OpenAPI.

  • Cloud Experience (Optional but advantageous):

Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP and experience with cloud-native application development.

  • Soft Skills:

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and oral), attention to detail, and a focus on quality.

Educational Background:

  • Typically, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MCA, or a related technical discipline is required.

Senior Product Developers in ERP with these skill sets can progress to roles like Technical Lead, Software Engineering Team Lead, or Architect within product-based companies or ERP solution providers.
