Position-134-Bag Designer and MerchandiserJob Title- Bag Designer and MerchandiserLocation: KolkataExperience: 7+ yearsSalary: Rs 6.00 to Rs 9.60 LPA (Depending upon current salary and experience)Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from any Design InstituteMajor ResponsibilitiesResponsible for entire product design process including market research, mood board creation, designing, sketching, specing and fit in collaboration with the R&D team.Actively participate towards the generation of new ideas and conceptual development of innovative and directional product lines that align with the brand's aesthetic and target market.Provides recommendations regarding seasonal themes, edits to line, new concepts, etc.Ensures that product is consistent with market trends/fashion trends as well as business strategy. Conduct market research and interprets international/domestic concepts while relating to market demands, company image, business strategy and consumer preferences.Translate concepts into detailed sketches or digital renderings, considering factors such as functionality, aesthetics, and marketability.Source and select appropriate materials for each bag design, considering factors such as durability, texture, colour, and cost.Provides insight regarding style of product during presentation and recommend new tools and technologies by staying abreast of the latest trends and techniquesCreate hardware designs and specs.Create Technical Packages for factories and Development Teams for initial lead constructions, 1st prototypes and 2nd prototypesCollaborate with suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality materials that meet design specifications.Create prototypes or samples of new bag designs to assess their appearance, functionality, and feasibility.Make adjustments to designs as necessary based on feedback from stakeholders, including design teams, manufacturers, and potential customers.Develop detailed technical specifications for each bag design, including measurements, materials, construction techniques, and hardware specifications. Ensure that technical specifications are communicated clearly to manufacturers to facilitate production.Work closely with cross-functional teams to bring bag designs to life. Maintain open communication channels to address any design or production issues that may arise during the development process.Conduct quality inspections of finished bag samples to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards.Represent the brand and its design ethos through innovative and marketable bag designs.Maintain brand consistency across all product lines while continuously pushing creative boundaries to differentiate the brand in the competitive fashion market.Maintain a portfolio of past and current bag designs to showcase to clients, retailers, and industry professionals. Continuously update the portfolio with new designs and collaborations to demonstrate creativity and versatility as a bag fashion designer while discussing with prospective clients.Responsible for researching ideas of new leather/fabric developmentLead and attend key meetings with Merchants, Product Development, Planning, and Sourcing and travel as outlined in the development process calendar.Identifies opportunities for process improvements.8.Candidate Requisites:Expertise and in-depth knowledge in materials and construction, constructions, colour ways, leather and trim.

Ability to hand sketch both technical drawings and freeform renderings.Excellent attention to detail and an intuitive eye for customer needs beyond the usual.Expert design and conceptual skills.Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members.Ability to collect and interpret both qualitative and quantitative feedback.A well-rounded portfolio of client work, demonstrating a strong understanding of client objectives.Ability to set a creative tone and to inspire ideas/new concepts; ability to conceptually visualize and build a line.Dynamic, creative personality, effective at engaging and influencing a variety of audiences.Highly adept at time management and maintaining deadlines.Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from any Design InstituteExcellent organizational, time management, communication and presentation skills.Knowledge/proficiency using Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite/Illustrator/ CAD and so on.7+ years of fashion/accessories design and development experience preferably in bags or wallets for a global luxury/fashion brand.Remain flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced and ever-changing fashion industry. Be willing to explore new design concepts, techniques, and materials to stay ahead of trends and meet evolving consumer demands.
