Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced AS400 COBOL RPG professional for a mid-level position in Chennai. This role is a full-time, contract, or contract-to-hire opportunity with a hybrid employment type. Candidates should have a maximum of 6 years of relevant work experience, showcasing proficiency in key skills essential for this role.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in AS400 (Mandatory skill) is vital for system development and maintenance in this role.
  • Extensive experience with SQL (Mandatory skill) for efficient database management and query execution.
  • Strong knowledge of Cobol (Mandatory skill), essential for programming and developing business applications.
  • Competency in RPG to support and enhance legacy systems efficiently.
  • Understanding of GEO spatial data analysis to improve application functionality and reporting accuracy.
  • Ability to manage and manipulate DATA to drive informed decision-making and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical skills for assessing system requirements and proposing viable solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to quickly resolve issues and optimize system performance.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and articulate complex technical concepts clearly.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain applications on the AS400 platform using Cobol and RPG languages.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze system requirements.
  • Design, code, test, and debug software programs to ensure functionality and efficiency.
  • Perform regular system checks and maintenance to improve performance and reliability.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for system-related issues and inquiries.
  • Prepare documentation and technical reports to outline system functionalities and updates.
  • Participate in the complete software development lifecycle to ensure smooth delivery of projects.
  • Stay current on industry trends and technology advancements to ensure our solutions remain innovative.
