Job Summary:

The Senior Merchandiser will be responsible for managing end-to-end merchandising activities within the garment manufacturing unit. This includes handling client communications, overseeing product development, coordinating with production teams, managing timelines, and ensuring product quality and delivery meet client expectations. The role requires a strong understanding of textile processes, garment production, costing, and sourcing.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Client Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
  • Understand client requirements, product specifications, and ensure timely communication on order progress.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by managing quality, delivery schedules, and resolving any concerns promptly.
  1. Product Development:
  • Collaborate with designers and buyers to develop new products and collections.
  • Provide input on fabric selection, trims, and accessories based on client preferences and market trends.
  • Prepare product samples, prototypes, and ensure client approvals before moving to bulk production.
  1. Production Coordination:
  • Work closely with production teams to ensure products are manufactured according to client specifications.
  • Monitor production timelines and flag any potential delays to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with sourcing teams for raw material procurement, and ensure materials meet quality and budget requirements.
  1. Costing and Budgeting:
  • Prepare product costing sheets and ensure that orders are within the allocated budget.
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to achieve the best pricing without compromising quality.
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Oversee quality checks at various stages of production to ensure products meet client and company quality standards.
  • Work with the Quality Control team to resolve any defects or issues in production.
  1. Order Management:
  • Manage and track the lifecycle of orders from initial inquiry through to final delivery.
  • Ensure that order quantities, specifications, and delivery timelines are met without exceptions.
  1. Team Management and Training:
  • Mentor and manage a team of junior merchandisers, providing guidance and support.
  • Conduct training sessions to improve the team's knowledge of fabrics, costing, and client management.
  1. Market Analysis and Trends:
  • Keep abreast of fashion trends, textile innovations, and market demands.
  • Provide insights and feedback to the design and production teams to develop relevant products.
Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong Communication: Ability to communicate clearly with clients, production teams, and vendors.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proficient in negotiating costs and timelines with suppliers and production teams.
  • Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of fabric types, garment construction, and fashion trends.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent in managing multiple orders, tracking progress, and meeting deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure that every aspect of the order meets the client’s expectations in terms of quality and design.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production or delivery issues quickly.
  • Leadership Skills: Capable of managing and mentoring a team of merchandisers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising, Textile Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in garment manufacturing or merchandising.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) & Google Apps.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems for order tracking and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with export and import procedures (for international clients) is a plus.
