Casual Academic Talent Pool – College of Business, Law and Governance James Cook University Teaching: Tertiary (Education & Training) Location: Townsville and Cairns James Cook University (JCU) is creating a brighter future for life in the Tropics and beyond, through education and research that makes a difference locally and globally.  About the College of Business, Law and Governance The College of Business, Law and Governance (CBLG) delivers a range of future-focused business and law courses across multiple campuses, including Cairns and Townsville. The College promotes, fosters, and delivers quality teaching and research with both a local and global reach. A primary emphasis of the College is on developing leaders who are equipped with an understanding of the complexities of doing business and undertaking professional practices as are directly relevant to the ever-evolving Asia Pacific region. About the opportunity We are seeking applications for casual academic opportunities to complement our teaching staff in the following undergraduate and postgraduate disciplines: Accounting Economics Finance Marketing Management (including Project Management, Human Resources, Sports & Events and Tourism) Law Sessional workloads may include face to face and online lectures, workshops, student consultation, marking and assessment activities with classes timetabled across the days and evenings. To be considered for academic employment and to be successful, you must possess: A PhD degree or Masters degree in a relevant discipline with experience in industry practice, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience in a professional setting. Demonstrated capacity and experience in university teaching (desirable). Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a collegial manner and contribute to the positive culture and aspirations the College, including collaborating with other staff, and liaison with industry partners. Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish quality research, with evidence of high-quality papers in national and international conferences or journals; or experience in industry practice that involves original applied research (desirable). Additional information Casual academic opportunities vary from one Trimester to another, depending on course offerings, student enrolments, and availability of permanent staff. Employment is therefore offered on an as needed basis.
