They now days move almost five million metric tonnes of commodities all over the globe: all across sub-Saharan Africa, North America, Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.


The role will be responsible for supporting the Business Controllers for Global Product Lines.

The accountant will report to the Deputy Finance Manager with a dotted line reporting to the Manager, Business Control.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Key support to the Business Controllers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Daily & Monthly accuracy of financial data & financial reporting
  • PNL analysis.
  • Position Reconciliation.
  • Managing Ad-hoc reports/Queries.


The most important functions will cover:


  • Business Control

Accurate daily position reporting.

Accurate daily & monthly PBT tracking & record keeping.

Prepare various reports & presentations on the financial performance of the Product Lines

Compliance Reporting.

Explanation of day-to-day variances in P&L and Monthly PBT.


  • Financial Control

Balance Sheet Integrity

Budget vs actual analysis

Month end & Year-end Closing


  • Systems

Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in day-to-day operations.

Take ownership to improve the reporting process and quality, as directed by the manager.


  • Improvement Projects

Implementation of internal controls and procedures to ensure decreased Operational-, Credit- and FX risk.

You will work closely in coordination with the trade and operations teams together with the vertical accounting team.

Interpersonal Skills Required:

  • Ability to function well in matrix reporting structure.
  • Experience in working remotely with international stakeholders.

  • Budgets
  • Volumes
  • Realised vs Unrealised.
  • Intra/Inter Company Reconciliations
  • FX Calcs.
  • Gross Margin/PBT Analysis
  • Interest and Working Capital Calculations
  • Open Position Valuations


Required know-how/ experience.

CMA/CA/MASTER’S degree.

4+ years’ experience

  • Previous commodity / derivative background
  • Excellent communication skills in English,
  • Ability to manage high volumes of data, skills in database management and analysis.
  • High proficiency in Financial/ERP systems such as MS Dynamics, AX.
  • High proficiency in Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Proficiency in VBA & SQL is Add ON.
