We are seeking a dynamic, qualified, and entrepreneurial candidate to deliver in-depth intelligence on government policy, macro-trade and investment trends, and businesses activities in the U.S.-India corridor specifically focused on Energy, Environment and Infrastructure sectors. Insights and expertise will inform the USIBC’s approach to industry-wide advocacy, briefings for members, engagements with governments and partner organizations, and thought leadership on the strength and importance of the US-India trade and investment relationship. The job holder will also support the USIBC’s government engagement at the Centre and State levels and will work across various sectors and cross-sector themes such as the ease of doing business. The role requires close coordination with colleagues in the United States and India.
Responsibilities
The core job responsibilities include:
Providing high quality analysis on macroeconomic, geopolitical and strategic developments in the U.S.-India energy space, as well as sector-relevant policy and regulatory trends in India and the United States, and across multilateral forums. This analysis will provide the basis for strategic decisions on USIBC programming, content for newsletters and opinion pieces by leadership and overall organisational understanding.
Closely track activities of the U.S. and Indian business communities around major areas of investments, partnerships and other activities in both geographies at the regional, national and subnational levels. This will include greenfield investments/new entrants, expansions by companies already in India, and major deals and partnerships, including with universities and research organisations.
Identify key stakeholders and build relationships with policymakers in both the United States and India, partner organizations, research organizations, and other key stakeholders including relevant Embassy stakeholders in both geographies. This includes maintaining a database of overall network of the vertical.
Develop and maintain specialized sub-sector initiatives, taskforces, and associated activities like white papers, roundtables and briefings.
Lead and moderate sectoral discussions with senior officials including hosting delegations and engaging with large external forums organized in both geographies and at the state level.
Provide administrative and liaison support for USIBC’s interactions with Indian government at the Centre and in states, coordinating with the departments and USIBC members. Our interactions include events, delegations, and meetings.
Education & Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, economics, international development, business administration, international relations or other related field.
A minimum of 10-15 years of project management experience in the energy sector, environment or infrastructure
Exposure to international/multi-cultural work environment is desirable.
Exceptional writing skills that effectively convey key messages to target audiences in a compelling and credible manner.
Practical experience working with a range of development program partners, including government agencies, think tanks, climate research partners regulatory bodies, utilities, the private sector, NGOs, civil society, consumers, etc.
