Job Description
FIELD SCIENTIST/ENGINEER
 

This position is responsible for working together in a team to conduct air measurement programs and primarily functions on field projects at heavy industrial sites. The work is mostly conducted according to predetermined methodologies and is performed in a manner that has safety as its highest priority while collecting data that gives our clients the utmost confidence in our results.

 

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Participates in safety activities to ensure safe technical operations for office, laboratory and field personnel
  • Equipment preparation, calibration, packing/unpacking and set-up, including gauges, meters, pumps, probes, and industry specific tools
  • Assist the Field Leader and other team members by performing necessary testing duties in the field
  • Knowledge of various EPA methods and the ability to perform the sampling, analyses, and calculations
  • Continuous learning of the processes being tested to determine additional ways to provide customer value
  • Contribute to new and improved equipment, procedures and methods to increase the overall efficiency of the team
  • Explore existing technologies for application to source testing
  • Travel required 50-75%, domestic and international
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Business Leader

Aptitudes and Abilities:


  • Able to apply Math/Reasoning Skills, in conjunction with Microsoft Excel to demonstrate Analytical Calculations or Analysis of Empirical Data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Cross Functional Teams within the organization
  • Physical requirements of job will include lifting, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, climbing, etc.
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation for long periods of time. 
  • The ability to work in an office environment as well as a customer site with varying environmental conditions.  Ability to navigate safely in these locations.

 

Work Experience:


·    On the job training will be provided

  

Education & Certifications:

  •         Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related Science field preferred.
  •         Associates of Applied Science degree
     

 

Skills:

·         Shows initiative – regularly engages in proactive behavior and looks for opportunities

·         Extremely adaptable – responds effectively to changes in situation or information;

·         Excellent analytical skills necessary to resolve problems and look for solutions;

·         Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point skills; and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for

               solutions

·         Basic knowledge and understanding of IT networking principals

·         Ability to multi-task while being calm and tactful in difficult situations

 

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear for sustained periods; uses hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls.  Moderate to heavy lifting. The employee will be required to climb (stairs, ladders, scaffolding and the like) and work in high places, stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. Exposure to varying degrees of facility/ambient conditions and outdoor weather conditions.  General hazards found in a construction, industrial, and laboratory environment are present.

  • Must maintain a current passport or able to obtain
    Current and valid driver’s license and ability to adhere to CleanAir’s driving policy
  • This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing and physical as well as ongoing physicals and random drug testing.  
  • This position is also subject to a background check and motor vehicle review.
    Safety-sensitive positions are required to submit to random drug testing with an MRO review for certain results.  Some results require the disclosure of prescription or OTC medications to the MRO.
