Position: Observability Engineer Relevant Years of Experience: 6+ years Job Type: Contract Work Location: Remote Salary Range: 12L - 15L PA Role Overview: The Observability Engineer will lead the instrumentation, telemetry routing, backend stack evaluation, and validation process to migrate RegEd's observability stack from New Relic to OpenTelemetry with Azure Monitor as the backend. Key Responsibilities: Lead the observability migration strategy across different applications. Configure and manage OpenTelemetry Collector for telemetry ingestion, filtering, and export. Evaluate backend observability stacks (Azure Monitor, ELK, Grafana, etc.) and recommend the optimal solution. Have experience in building dashboards and alerts in the backend tools (Grafana/Kibana/App Insights). Validate telemetry data parity for metrics, traces, and logs across platforms. Coordinate integration with third-party tools like PagerDuty, Teams, and email alerting. Collaborate with .NET and Java developers on SDK implementation and Collector configuration. Prepare documentation and training materials for client stakeholders. Required Skills: Expertise in one or more backend observability platforms: Grafana, ELK/EFK, Prometheus, Azure Monitor Deep understanding of metrics, traces, logs, distributed tracing, and telemetry schemas. Strong experience with OpenTelemetry SDKs, Collector configuration, and telemetry pipelines. Familiarity with New Relic dashboards and alert policies. Knowledge of OTLP protocol and related exporters/receivers. Ability to design and validate end-to-end observability solutions. Preferred Skills: Hands-on experience with Azure services including AKS, VMs, and App Insights. Familiarity with enterprise monitoring requirements and SLAs. Strong scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Python, etc.)
