Key Responsibilities

• Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients, architects, and other engineers as part of a dedicated and skilled team.
  
• Design and Documentation: Produce coordinated detailed design drawings, electronic models, specifications, written reports, site observation reports, schedules, etc., within the electrical discipline.
  
• Permits and Approvals: Coordinate with utility companies and obtain necessary electrical permit approvals.
  
• Proposals: Organize technical and financial proposals for new work.
  
• Project Management: Manage the workload of project discipline engineers and technicians, including verification of quality.
  
• Engineering Solutions: Take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detailed design.
  
• Specifications: Prepare technical specifications.
  
• Financial Monitoring: Monitor the financial performance of jobs.
  
• Communication: Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and ensure the client’s objectives are achieved.
  
• Mentorship: Mentor junior electrical engineers.
  
• Compliance: Ensure practices, policies, strategies, and services represent the client’s best interests and comply with current legislation and relevant building codes.
  
• Workload Management: Plan, organize, and manage personal workload to meet deadlines in line with client commitments. Maintain an overview of the project team’s workload and commitments to meet deadlines successfully and balance resource utilization.
  
• Profitability: Contribute towards delivering profitable projects in the context of project finances. Monitor the financial performance of jobs and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure.
  

Requirements

• Experience:
  • 8+ years’ experience in electrical engineering design in the building services and construction industry.
    
  • Experience working on projects in sectors such as Higher Education, Museums, Commercial, Transportation Hubs, and/or Stadiums.
    
• Education: Relevant bachelor or master’s degree.
  
• Certifications:
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) desirable.
    
  • LEED AP accredited preferred.
    
• Technical Skills:
  • Experience using Revit.
    
  • Familiarity with computational analysis tools such as electrical fault analysis and lighting design software.
    
• Responsibility: Ability to accept a high degree of responsibility in a team-based organization, combined with the ability to work independently.
  
• Knowledge: Excellent technical knowledge of electrical systems; ability to investigate, identify, and provide solutions to technical problems.
  
• Communication Skills: Excellent client-facing and communication skills (verbal and written), with experience presenting solutions directly to 'c-suite' level stakeholders.
  
• Problem-Solving: Ability to problem-solve and propose multiple solutions to clients and objectively summarize the benefits and shortfalls of each.
