Job Purpose:

Lead – DC Design is responsible for the design, engineering, and optimization of DC side components of solar PV systems. This includes PV modules, inverters, combiner boxes, and associated wiring and cabling. The role ensures the seamless integration of DC components with overall system design, compliance with industry standards, and resolution of technical issues. The Lead – DC Design will also mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.


Principal Accountabilities:

Design and Engineering of DC Components

  • Design and engineer DC components of solar PV systems, including PV modules, inverters, combiner boxes, and associated wiring and cabling.
  • Perform detailed system calculations to ensure optimal sizing and configuration of DC components for solar installations.

Site Assessments and Technical Data Collection

  • Conduct site assessments and surveys to gather technical data necessary for system design and implementation.

Project Collaboration and Integration

  • Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and installation teams to ensure seamless integration of DC components with overall system design.
  • Provide expertise and support in contract negotiations, vendor selection, and procurement of DC equipment.

Technical Documentation and Compliance

  • Create technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Troubleshooting and Technical Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to DC components during installation and operation phases.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to field teams and stakeholders as needed.

Mentorship and Team Guidance

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Continuous Learning and Industry Awareness

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to solar PV technology and DC engineering.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in solar PV and DC engineering.


Education and Qualifications: BE / BTech / MTech in Electrical Engineering; knowledge of PVsyst software.


Work Experience: Minimum 10 years in designing and engineering DC components of solar PV systems, including site assessments and technical data collection. Experience in renewables is necessary


Technical/Professional Skills: Expertise in PV modules, inverters, combiner boxes, wiring and cabling; system calculations and simulations, compliance with industry standards.
