Job Summary: A Web Development Specialist in an IT company is responsible for designing, coding, and modifying websites, from layout to function, according to the client's specifications. They strive to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation.

Responsibilities

  • Website Development : Develop and maintain functional and appealing web applications and websites.
  • Coding and Programming : Write well-designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
  • UI/UX Design : Create website layout/user interface by using standard HTML/CSS practices and integrating data from various back-end services and databases.
  • Content Integration : Integrate content management systems and other applications into the website.
  • Testing and Debugging : Test and debug websites and web applications across multiple browsers and platforms.
  • Performance Optimization : Optimize websites for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Technical Documentation : Create and maintain software documentation.
  • Collaboration : Work with web designers to match visual design intent, and collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Technical Skills :
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Strong understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
  • Familiarity with at least one of the following programming languages: PHP, ASP.NET, JavaScript, or Ruby on Rails.
  • Adequate knowledge of relational database systems, Object Oriented Programming, and web application development.
  • Experience with the use of development tools such as Chrome Developer Tools, GitHub, and others.
  • Design Skills :
  • Understanding of layout aesthetics and a keen eye for design.
  • Experience in responsive and mobile design.
  • Problem-Solving Skills :
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and enhance web applications.
  • Communication Skills :
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and succinctly.
  • Experience :
  • Proven working experience in web programming.
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.
  • Education :
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field is preferred but not always required depending on experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Frameworks and Libraries : Experience with modern frameworks and libraries such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Content Management Systems : Familiarity with WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla.
  • APIs : Experience with RESTful and SOAP APIs.
  • E-commerce Platforms : Experience with e-commerce platforms like Magento, Shopify, or WooCommerce.
  • SEO : Basic understanding of SEO principles.
  • Continuous Learning : Willingness to stay updated on new technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
