Northern Health are seeking applications from a motivated and suitably experienced Virtual Ward Lead to join the Victorian Virtual Emergency department.  Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north. Services are provided through our six main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital.  In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg. About the Role: This newly created position, Virtual Ward Lead is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to build a transformative virtual ward service for the state of Victoria as part of the emerging Virtual Hospital. This role requires both virtual clinical ward work and non-clinical leadership to design, implement and build a scalable state-wide ward service. This role is responsible for: Attending patients and co-ordinating their ongoing care Helping identify and build a ward-based workforce to meet increased demand over time Consulting with other healthcare professionals, such as the patients GP, other medical staff within Virtual Health and externally, Nurses and Nurse Practitioners to provide exceptional care and patient-centred outcomes Designing and implementing a scalable virtual ward model of care To be successful in this role you will have: Managing patient admissions, especially in regional and rural Urgent Care Centres and/or hospitals would be advantageous. Experience with “out of the box” thinking and thriving in fast-paced environments Experience utilising Telehealth platforms would be beneficial Significant level of competence with technology beneficial This role would suit a collaborative, strategic and dynamic Physician who wants to lead a visionary model of care Next Steps . . .
