What you'll be doingKey Responsibilities:Leads and oversees the design and layout of data center/facilities (includes server rooms, cooling systems, power distribution, fire suppression, and security systems).Assesses current and future capacity needs to ensure the data centre/facilities can accommodate the growth of IT equipment and infrastructure.Chooses appropriate equipment and systems for power, cooling, and environmental control, ensuring they meet efficiency, redundancy, and scalability requirements.Implements energy-efficient design principles and technologies to reduce power consumption and environmental impact.Designs systems with redundancy to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.Ensures that the data centre/facilities design complies with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.Balances design requirements with cost considerations, including capital expenditures (CapEx) and operational expenditures (OpEx).Works closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and architects, to ensure seamless integration of data center systems.Creates detailed design documentation, including architectural drawings, specifications, and equipment lists.Identifies and mitigates potential risks related to the data center/facilities design, such as power interruptions, cooling failures, or security vulnerabilities.Performs any other related task as required.

Knowledge and Attributes:Advanced proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools is important for creating and managing data center design documents.Advanced understanding of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data center design and management.Advanced project management skills to oversee the design process from concept to implementation, including budget management and timelines.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Design, Architecture, Engineering, or in related field.Data center specific design certifications such as Certified Data Centre Design Professional (CDCDP), Data Centre Energy Practitioner (DCEP), or Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP) are beneficial.

Required Experience:Advanced experience in facilities design and planning,Advanced experience of data center infrastructure, power and cooling systems, and IT equipment.Advanced experience working in facilities environments or other technically sophisticated project types.Advanced experience with new construction, tenant improvements and capital improvement projectsAdvanced experience working acumen with CSA and MEP systems development; Architectural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering education or experience is a plus#GlobalDataCentersCareersWorkplace type:Hybrid Working
