ABOUT US:

Aero2Astro Space is a start-up dedicated to developing the world's first Single-Stage-To-Orbit launch vehicle, designed to deliver payloads of up to 300kg to Earth's Low-Earth-Orbit. As we expand our core team, we are seeking individuals with a passion for space and a desire to contribute to our in-house developed systems and software. Currently, we are in the pre-funding and pre-revenue stage, and we are inviting talented candidates with a deep interest in space and are excited about working in a start-up environment to join us. While this position is unpaid, we offer a range of additional benefits to our team members.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and develop advanced materials for space vehicle structures and propulsion systems, including high-temperature alloys, composites, and coatings.
  • Conduct material performance analysis, simulations, and optimization to ensure materials can withstand the harsh conditions of space.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, propulsion engineers, and systems engineers, to integrate materials into space mission designs.
  • Generate system-level requirements and specifications for materials used in propulsion components and subsystems.
  • Participate in the selection and evaluation of materials, considering factors such as performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in materials science, emerging trends, and industry standards, incorporating them into designs and methodologies.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of materials science principles, including the behavior of materials under high-temperature and high-stress conditions.
  • Familiarity with material characterization techniques, including mechanical testing, thermal analysis, and microstructural analysis.
  • Proficiency in material performance analysis and simulation tools, such as finite element analysis (FEA) software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) and materials modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with the properties of high-temperature alloys, composites, and coatings used in aerospace applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with the development and testing of advanced materials for aerospace applications.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing techniques for aerospace materials.
  • Familiarity with system engineering principles and processes.
  • Understanding of space mission requirements, material compatibility, and environmental effects in space.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability to changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and experience in leading small teams.
