Research Engineer

Saint Gobain, a global leader in Habitat Business is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in the creation and development of innovative hardware products this role will be to work closely with R&D teams locally and globally.
The position entails working with a multidisciplinary team as part of a new product development cycle, which includes developing concepts and taking them from initial design to commercialization. The candidate will be required to work closely with fellow engineers, technicians, and machinists to design and fabricate system level products on glass such as Glass Railings, Glass partitions, Shower cubicles, Glass Windows, kitchen shutters and etc., They should be able to support on auxiliary systems and develop overall architecture of various designs. The role also requires deep understanding on design optimization of the hardware (hinges and handles) used in the above products, check structural integrity (permanent load, external force etc.,), aesthetics and electronic components integration into the system.
The Candidate must Bachelor's/ Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, coupled with 4-6 years of hands-on experience in design engineering. Proficiency in SolidWorks and expertise in utilizing tools such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) are essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
1. Conceptualization and Design:
- closely with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and specifications.
- detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks for components and assemblies.
- innovative and efficient designs that align with project objectives and industry standards.
2. Analysis and Optimization:
- FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and other relevant analyses to identify and mitigate potential design risks.
- basic structural to ensure the integrity and performance of designs.
- with stakeholders to optimize designs for manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
3. Prototyping and Testing:
- the fabrication of prototypes and conduct thorough testing to validate design concepts.

4. Documentation and Reporting:
- detailed documentation of design specifications, changes, and validation results.
- regular progress reports and participate in design reviews.

5. Collaboration and Communication:
- closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and product management, to ensure seamless integration of designs into the product development process.

- Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering / Design or a related field.
