### Role Overview


The Operations Head is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the flexible packaging manufacturing facility. This role involves planning, production, process improvements, quality management, maintenance, warehouse management, customer service, and employee relations. The Operations Head will manage relationships between plants, sales, vendors, and all operational activities.


Key Responsibilities


Production & Performance Target Achievement

  • Develop and implement manufacturing plans and strategies.
  • Balance work capacity across multiple plants and lead debottlenecking projects.
  • Evaluate new product concepts for manufacturing capabilities.
  • Drive lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Ensure statutory compliance, safety improvements, and adherence to quality culture.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives and cost optimization strategies.

Quality Target Achievement

  • Drive excellence through ISO and other quality programs.
  • Minimize rejects and rework while continuously refining specifications.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.

Cost Management

  • Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, health & safety, and on-time delivery.
  • Review production reports and resolve operational issues to minimize costs.
  • Implement cost savings initiatives and promote 80/20 simplification principles.

Employee Relations

  • Oversee fair administration of policies, work rules, promotions, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage and develop talent within the facility, fostering a positive team spirit.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide leadership coaching, training, and mentoring to direct reports, promoting continuous improvement and cost reductions.

Capability & Leadership Building

  • Recruit high-quality talent and implement a customer-focused operational culture.
  • Establish a culture of quality, safety, performance, and cost consciousness.
  • Drive talent management and succession planning for key roles.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports, promoting continuous improvement and cost reductions.
  • Encourage ethical behavior, initiative, diligence, and proactive engagement.

Must-Have Mandatory Selection Criteria

  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing setup, preferably in blown film and continuous extrusion.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and quality culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations with multiple SKUs.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic manufacturing plans.
  • Experience in driving cost management, quality improvement, and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and people management skills.
  • Proficiency in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field. An MBA in Operations Management is a plus.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in the packaging industry is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.

Desired Age Group

  • Preferred age range: 40-50 years

Gender

  • Candidates should have an average tenure of 4 years or more in previous roles, reflecting stability and commitment.

  • Must be able to handle a complex and highly customized manufacturing process with multiple SKUs and divisions.
  • Should possess strong management systems and controls while being an inspiring and flexible leader.
  • Expected to have a mindset focused on continuous improvement, efficiency, cost-saving, and quality culture.
  • Should be able to handle labor-intensive processes and manage high employee turnover due to local workforce dynamics.
  • Ability to manage and align new HODs as the company has hired several new leaders in the past year or two.
  • Passion for process development, lean manufacturing, capacity planning, and productivity improvement.
  • Strong business acumen and ethical standards.
  • Ability to handle exclusion control and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
