The Data Developer will be responsible for data migration, data engineering, data modeling, and ensuring data quality across a Community Information System (CIS). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing and optimizing large datasets, with experience in databases such as Oracle, MS SQL and PostgreSQL.
Responsibilities:
· Design and implement data migration strategies to transfer data from legacy systems to the new CIS.
· Develop and maintain data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
· Create and optimize data models to support the system’s functional and performance requirements.
· Ensure data quality by implementing data validation, cleansing, and error-checking procedures.
· Collaborate with the development team to integrate data solutions within the overall system architecture.
· Monitor and maintain the performance of database systems, ensuring high availability and responsiveness.
· Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
· Conduct data analysis and generate reports to support decision-making and system improvements.
· Work closely with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
· Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, providing ongoing support and maintenance.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in data development, data engineering, or a related role.
· Proven experience in data migration, data modeling, and data quality assurance.
· Expertise in working with database systems, particularly Oracle, MS SQL and PostgreSQL.
· Proficiency in SQL and experience with data manipulation and optimization techniques.
· Familiarity with data integration tools and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
· Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
· Experience with GIS data and spatial databases is a plus.
