The rest of the Evam team comprises alumni of IITs, IIMs, CMU, IISc, NUS with rich experience across multiple industries.Role Overview - Data ScientistThe Data Science team at Propheus is seeking Data Scientists to join us and make critical contributions to our research and development efforts. You will work closely with our team to build and deploy cutting-edge AI/ML models and systems that form the backbone of our product and solutions. These are full-time onsite roles at our office located in Bengaluru.ResponsibilitiesUnderstand business and research goals in the retail and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) space and contribute to building data science applications such as demand forecasting, inventory optimization, product recommendations, and promotion planning.Build and maintain data pipelines and workflows for data ingestion, cleaning, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and deployment.Work with large, messy retail and CPG datasets (sales, customers, products, promotions, etc.) to extract useful insights and identify patterns that improve model performance and business outcomes.Research and test different models, algorithms, and architectures to quickly prototype and validate new ideas.Evaluate and implement open-source tools and technologies that support data processing, modeling, and deployment, and suggest improvements where needed.Document research findings, model experiments, data workflows, and implementation details clearly and consistently.Lead and guide a small team (1–3) of junior data science associates, reviewing their work, providing technical direction, and ensuring project quality and timely delivery.What we look for in CandidatesEducational Background and Professional ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline such as Data Science or Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.4–6 years of professional experience in data science. Candidates with the required technical skills but experience in adjacent areas such as software engineering or data engineering will also be considered.Technical CompetenciesStrong understanding of the Python programming language and core scientific computing libraries such as Num Py, Sci Py, and Matplotlib.Proficiency in data processing and manipulation using Pandas.Strong mathematical foundations in probability, statistics, and linear algebra.Solid grasp of classical machine learning algorithms, both in theory and practice, with the ability to implement and tune models using Scikit-learn, XGBoost, Light GBM, Cat Boost, or similar Python packages.Practical experience using large language models (LLMs) for data cleaning, enrichment, and embedding generation to support downstream models and analytics workflows.Experience working in modern cloud computing environments such as AWS or Microsoft Azure for data storage, processing, and deployment.End-to-end ownership of the problem you are working on.Nice to HavesFamiliarity with big data processing technologies, especially Apache Spark; experience with Py Spark is highly desirable. Experience working with geospatial data is highly desirable.
