ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of the Enterprise Cloud Engineering Team, a Sr. Cloud Engineer designs, develops, tests, implements, and maintains cloud architecture for. They are responsible for troubleshooting cloud issues and providing a self-service, user-friendly platform for the application development team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Work as the Lead Engineer supporting Staff and Principal Engineers within a Kanban development team

· Provide cloud technical leadership to Cloud Engineers and Sr. Cloud Engineers on a per-project basis

· Help document requirements, communicate to various members of the team, and help provide Cloud Engineer principles to Cloud Engineers and Sr. Cloud Engineers

· Take part in Staff and Principal Engineer cloud strategy development meetings

· Understand project expectations that were set with Staff and Principal Engineers

· Identify bottlenecks/blockers and escalate to Staff/Principal Engineers and Product Owners 

· Develop and implement cloud strategy

· Develop, test, and implement cloud PaaS

· Write unit tests based on system requirements

· Understand Internet and client/server architectures

· Work closely with a variety of stakeholders to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction

· Help produce and ensure that coding standards and design patterns are being enforced

· Perform other job-related duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Some broad experience in multiple areas of cloud practice, E.G:

o Cloud Security

o Cloud Networking

· Strong understanding of cloud design patterns

· Strong containerization and service mesh experience 

· Strong experience in driving cloud governance and assessing non-conformance in a cross-collaborative environment

· Strong analytical skills 

· Experienced technical mentorship of cloud engineers

· Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, specifically documentation skills 

· Proven ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a multi-tasking environment

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

§ Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required 

o In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, equivalent years of experience in computer science, engineering, benefits administration, or a related field 

§ Overall, 4-6 years' experience in related areas of work

§ 3-4 years of experience in the following areas: 

o Infrastructure as code delivery

o DevOps & SRE practices 

o Cloud platform and engineering design 

§ Experience within a major public cloud service provider such as the following: 

o Microsoft Azure 

o Amazon Web Services 

o Google Cloud Platform 

§ Prior experience in benefit program administration; knowledge of Health and Welfare processes a plus 

§ Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, certificates, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
