About Global Health Strategies (GHS)GHS is an international health consulting organization that works to ensure the delivery of life-saving health products, technologies, and information to those who need them the most. We use policy research, advocacy, communications, program implementation, and market entry strategies to address health-related issues that disproportionately impact developing nations and emerging markets. In this endeavor, GHS partners with foundations, industry, NGOs, government agencies, and academic institutions. Some of our prominent partners include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Johns Hopkins University, the Mumbai Port Trust, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition, and GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, among others.
Project Background
Global Health Strategies (GHS) through a grant funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) continued to provide strategic advocacy and communications support to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the National Centre for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) to sustain an enabling environment for Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) and Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) elimination efforts in India. The project is now in its third phase that will focus on building sustainability and set transition pathways for domestic institutions independently leading efforts towards elimination efforts
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a
consultant
who will function as a
senior program associate
with the LF/VL team.
The role will include liaising with government representatives, academic and technical experts and the media to ensure project delivery.
The talent in the past should have worked in the public health space
and have
worked with government or in a project with the government.
Someone, who has in the past worked with a diverse set of stakeholders and is a team player. The consultant might be required to carry out similar activities for other projects, as required. Background in public health will be an added advantage.
Specific role and responsibilities
Project roleDrafting and support in the conceptualising of articles, op-eds and other content collaterals for the projectEnsuring delivery of the day-to-day tasks for the projectLiaising with project partners for project deliveryCommunicating with managers on progress and challenges, identifying problems and formulating solutions before they arise.Curating and coordinating events for the project as neededCreating social content for the projectFollowing and tracking trends in social media, key announcements, new evidence and high-level conversations that may impact priority global health challenges.Support project and GHS leadership and effectively represent GHS where required.Demonstrated initiative and capacity to perform well in an entrepreneurial atmosphere.Knowledge /understanding implementation of social mobilization/ public health campaign
Required QualificationsA Bachelors’ Degree, preferably in a social science, journalism or public health or other related fields with at least 3 to 6 years of progressively relevant professional experience.Master’s degree is an asset.Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills with a demonstrated ability to write for media and social media.Understanding of government programs and how they are implemented. Passion for health communication and advocacy, and a commitment to our clients' mission and goals in the health-related industry.Microsoft Office proficiencyAdvanced Word and PowerPoint skillsIntermediate Excel skills
Required interpersonal and work skills.Attention to detail, with a keen eye for formatting and grammar.Interest in learning new skills at a fast paceAbility to work within short timelines
