NOVARGI Indian branch, is mainly focused on Detail Engineering activities for the whole group and Project management activities.



Job Overview:


The Senior Project Engineer will handle the engineering efforts for large-scale oil & gas projects, ensuring that all technical and engineering aspects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget. They will work with multi-disciplinary teams, participating in project design and execution, and ensuring alignment with client specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, project management skills, and significant experience in the oil & gas industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Execution : work on the technical aspects of projects from concept to completion, ensuring they are delivered on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
  • Technical Leadership : Provide technical guidance and oversight to project teams, including design engineers, discipline engineers, and other project staff.
  • Engineering Design & Review : Supervise and review engineering designs, specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards, and safety regulations.
  • Project Coordination : Collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, electrical, etc.), procurement teams, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of project tasks.
  • Risk Management : Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans to address issues related to technical execution, budget, and scheduling.
  • Client Interaction : Serve as the primary point of contact for technical discussions with clients, ensuring clear communication and addressing client concerns or changes in project scope.
  • Change Management : Manage change requests related to engineering designs or project scope, ensuring all modifications are documented, assessed, and implemented effectively.
  • Quality Assurance : Ensure that all engineering deliverables are completed in compliance with quality standards, codes, and safety guidelines.
  • Cost Control : Monitor project budgets and engineering expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality or safety.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant local and international codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., API, ASME, ISO, etc.).
  • Reporting & Documentation : Prepare detailed project reports, technical presentations, and documentation for project stakeholders, including progress reports, cost updates, and risk assessments.


Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Engineering Expertise : Strong technical knowledge in oil & gas facilities, pipelines, refineries, or offshore platforms, including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering principles.
  • Project Management : Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, including scope definition, scheduling, cost control, and risk management.
  • Software Proficiency : Familiarity with engineering design software such as AVEVA E3D, AutoCAD, PDMS, CAESAR II, and project management tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to analyse complex technical problems and develop effective solutions to meet project objectives.
  • Contract & Vendor Management : Experience working with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to oversee equipment procurement, subcontracted work, and installation processes.
  • Safety Standards : In-depth knowledge of HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) standards and their application in oil & gas projects.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control : Strong financial acumen to manage project budgets and control engineering costs effectively.
  • Regulatory Knowledge : Familiarity with oil & gas industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME, ANSI, ISO, IEC, OSHA).


Requirements:

Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, or related field).
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Project Management is a plus.

Experience :

  • 12-15 years of experience in project engineering roles, with significant exposure to oil & gas projects (upstream, midstream, or downstream).

Certifications :

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) certification is preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification is an advantage.

Technical Skills :

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, and project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
  • Experience in using project collaboration tools such as BIM (Building Information Modelling) or other industry-specific platforms.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, especially under pressure.

Language Skills :

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
