DevOps Manager

Job Purpose -The purpose of this job is to define and own the overall cloud infrastructure as well as the devopsautomation. This includes designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud-based systemsand infrastructure and the primary role is to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of cloudcomputing systems, services, and applications, and ensuring the devops automation ensurescontinuous deployment capability to the organisation.Job Context & Major Challenges -(What are the specific aspects of the job that provide a challenge to the jobholder?Job Context• The domain being financial servicesthere will be continuous enhancements and changes to the systems.• There will be continuous demands to the cloud platform on which these services will runfrom security, performance, ease of deployment, high availability, redundancy amongothers.Some of the specific tasks that this job will perform include:• Designing and implementing cloud infrastructure: Will be responsible for designingcloud-based infrastructure, including computing, storage, and networking systems, that meetthe requirements of an organization.• Designing framework for devops automation: Will design and deliver the architecture todeliver automation in continuous deployment & integration of applications over the cloudinfrastructure.• Building and deploying cloud-based applications: Will work with software developers tocreate and deploy cloud-based applications and services.• Monitoring and troubleshooting: Will be responsible for monitoring cloud infrastructure toensure optimal performance and addressing issues that arise.• Security and compliance: Will work to ensure that cloud-based systems and applicationsare secure and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.• Automation and optimization: Will use automation tools and techniques to optimize andstreamline cloud infrastructure and applications.• High Availability, DR & BCP : Will be plan for the redundancy at all levels – applications,database, networks to ensure high uptime as well as minimum RPO & RTO.• General Database Administration: Will ensure installations, health checkup of databases,backup & recovery aspects.Enabling Skill Sets , Qualifications & Experiences:• Experience with effective data management & backup, and disaster recovery planning.• Experience with AWS cloud setups. Microsoft (Azure) Cloud setups experience will be a plus.• Experience with setting up hybrid private and public cloud setups.• Experience working with open-source software on Linux.• Experience with serverless function setups.• Experience with message queue and/or Apache Kafka setups.• Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes cluster setups & orchestration.• Experience with setups involving database on cloud instances or managed databases.• Knowledge of common client/server communication protocols and standards:o Directory Services: DNS, LDAP, GC, Kerberos, etc.• Messaging: POP, IMAP, MAPI, SMTP, SSL/TLS, Connectors, etc.• Education required for this role is graduate with 4-6 years of experience of working in as asenior cloud engineer in high volume transaction processing setups, with continuousdevelopment changes.Team/Resources to Handle as Direct Reportees• The devops lead will start off as a single person team, and will be over a period of timesupported by junior resources as the product platform evolves.Team/Resources to Colloborate (Same Dept)• Solution Architect-The role will work closely with the solution architect to understand the specific aspects ofapplication architecture and ensure the performance & deployment strategy is aligned.• CISO-The role will work closely with the CISO to ensure the security elements are implementedproperly.• Project Manager +Dev Team-The role will work closely with the project manager & dev team to ensure theplanned/continuous deployments to the cloud environments.Challenges:• Rapid deployment changes and the need to ensure quick deployments with min downtime,including planning for continuous deployments.Job Description• Keeping high availability of the cloud infrastructure with appropriate backup plans.• Keeping an eye on the cloud infrastructure performance and plan for ahead with theapplication team.
