Role & responsibilities

  • Follow lab rules, safety guidelines, and hygiene practices at all times.
  • Assist in preparing fixatives, stains, and reagents as per given procedures.
  • Help with processing tissue samples using lab equipment (e.g., tissue processor, embedding station, microtome, cryostat).
  • Support in slide staining using standard and special stains under guidance.
  • Wear proper lab uniforms and protective gear (gloves, masks, aprons, etc.).
  • Maintain cleanliness and personal hygiene during lab work.
  • Enter only allowed lab areas and inform your supervisor of any health issues that may affect your work.
  • Keep assigned equipment clean and record details in logbooks or registers.
  • Label, store, and dispose of tissue samples, slides, and blocks properly.
  • Report any issues with machines or test results to your senior immediately.
  • Assist with inventory by checking and reporting stock levels of consumables.
  • Make sure materials used for testing meet quality check requirements.
  • Dispose of lab waste as per the safety and waste management rules.
  • Always follow safe handling practices while working with chemicals and samples.
  • Maintain discipline, punctuality, and a respectful attitude in the workplace.
  • Perform routine lab duties as required in the absence of a senior technician.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Diploma or B.Sc or Msc in any lifesciences
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a histopathology lab
  • Skilled in tissue processing, microtomy, and H&E staining
  • Familiar with histopathology lab equipment and safety protocols
  • Basic knowledge of LIMS and specimen tracking
