Job Summary: The Head of Foundry Operations is responsible for overseeing the entire foundry operations to ensure efficient production processes, high product quality, adherence to safety standards, and optimized resource utilization. The role requires strong leadership in managing teams, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring timely delivery to meet customer requirements. This position will emphasize new product development, process design and improvements, and successful implementation of new projects, ensuring that the foundry remains competitive and innovative.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee all aspects of foundry operations, including melting, molding, core making, pouring, fettling, and finishing.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Focus on process design and improvement to continuously enhance productivity and quality.
- Monitor daily operations and ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Production Planning and Control:
- Plan and schedule production activities in line with demand forecasts and customer requirements.
- Ensure timely production and delivery of products while minimizing wastage and rework.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams like procurement, quality control, and logistics to ensure smooth operations.
New Product Development and Process Innovation:
- Lead initiatives for developing new products, focusing on customer requirements and emerging market trends.
- Oversee the design and implementation of new processes and methods, driving efficiency and quality improvements.
- Evaluate and incorporate modern technologies and advanced machining techniques to keep the foundry at the forefront of innovation.
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Implement robust quality control measures at every stage of production to meet industry standards.
- Drive initiatives to reduce defects, improve yield, and enhance overall product quality.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address non-conformities and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the foundry operations team, including managers, supervisors, and production staff.
- Build a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and high performance.
- Identify training needs and implement skill development programs for the workforce.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations within the foundry.

Process Improvement and Innovation:

Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and contractors to ensure timely procurement of materials and services.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of experience in foundry operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive knowledge of steel casting processes, foundry equipment, and modern manufacturing practices.
- Proven track record in leading large-scale foundry operations with a focus on quality, efficiency, and safety.
Key Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- In-depth understanding of foundry operations and metallurgical processes.
