Senior Research Engineer

Key Responsibilities:1. Design, develop, and optimize state-of-the-art embedding models for various modalities including text, voice, and vision, with a strong focus on Indian languages and dialects.2. Architect and implement efficient retrieval systems that can scale to billions of items, optimized for multilingual and multimodal data prevalent in the Indian context.3. Conduct research to improve the performance and efficiency of embedding and retrieval techniques, particularly for low-resource Indian languages.4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate embedding and retrieval systems into larger AI models and applications tailored for the Indian market.5. Implement and optimize models using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX.6. Develop and maintain scalable data processing pipelines for training and evaluating embedding models on diverse Indian datasets.7. Contribute to the broader scientific community through publications and conference presentations, focusing on advancements in multilingual AI.8. Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the Applied AI Team.9. Collaborate with product teams to understand requirements and translate research findings into practical applications.10. Stay abreast of the latest developments in embedding techniques and retrieval systems, particularly in multilingual and low-resource contexts.
Qualifications:1. M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field from a premier institute, with 5+ years of experience in AI/ML research and development.2. Strong background in natural language processing, information retrieval, and/or computer vision, particularly in multilingual contexts.3. Expertise in developing and optimizing large-scale embedding models and retrieval systems.6. Familiarity with recent advancements in embedding techniques such as BERT, CLIP, or similar models, especially in multilingual settings.4. Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.5. Experience with distributed computing and optimization techniques for large-scale models.7. Strong programming skills and experience with high-performance computing.8. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to innovate in complex, cutting-edge AI domains.9. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.10. Track record of publications in top-tier AI/ML conferences is a plus.11. Experience with or knowledge of Indian languages is highly desirable.
