Mainframe Architect

General:Overall 12+ years of IT experience with relevant mainframe architectural experience with large-scale enterprise-grade solutionsShould have strong 5+ years' experience designing and deploying/modernizing mainframe legacy estateWell versed in mainframe assessments , modernization and migration programs, well aware of software principles, design patterns, Application and Enterprise integration patternsAbility to communicate with all levels of the organization (leading technical discussions and communicating with leaders)Thinks in terms of capabilities and the technologies to deliverMust be able to collaborate and lead discussions with multiple teams to develop solution architectures for legacy estates with little or no SME knowledgeSeeks to understand and manage business requirements and expected outcomes across multiple teamsAble to identify and assess risks to mitigate and eliminate technical obstacles that negatively impact the delivery of a solutionMust be assertive and responsible for the creation of solutions that meets or exceeds business expectations

Must HaveExpertise in developing and architecting modernization solutions for Mainframes with stack including COBOL, JCL, Java, C++, REXX, CICS, Natural, Easytrieve etcShould have been part of large mainframe modernization programs, application assessmentsFamiliarity with any of the mainframe modernization tools like BluAge, Astadia, Raincode etcStrong understanding of mainframe Databases and modernizations of the same onto modern Database stackShould be flexible to solution as also to deliver programs if necessary as product owner/architectShould have good knowledge of one of the cloud platforms AWS, Azure, GCP and how to modernize mainframe workloads onto modern stack using the sameShould be proficient in cost-benefit and return on investment analysis for proposed solutions to aid management in making implementation decisionsFamiliarity with the various nuances of cloud native application development is a plus including PaaS and CaaS deployment modelsFamiliarity with DevOps tools like Jenkins, GOCertification in any of WatsonX for z, Azure, AWS or GCP is a plusCapability presentation to customers and PoC’s in their environment to demonstrate the solution featuresHandholding and consulting with the delivery programs for solution fitment and gaps managementRequirement gathering and specification, Providing Business solution to client, Design of large scale enterprise system, Build, Testing,Technical documentation, User coordination, Migration PlanningExperience in designing modernized IT landscape/architecture for medium and large Cloud migration projects.Thorough understanding and good experience in Cloud migration assessment for Enterprise applications.Ability to lead a team of Architects / technology Leads from different technologies and establishing innovation in processes, tools, best practices and reusable components.Experience in home grown/third party legacy conversion tools will be a plus.Good experience in Delivery and Pre-sales process and a thorough understanding of the nuances of client and internal team relationships is a must.Experience in Client RFP’s for large dealsExperience in Pricing and Estimation methodsExperience in DevOps tools, Agile PM will be a plus.Good to HaveExperience in defining and implementing Hybrid scenarios with mainframe workloads shared across on premise and cloud, application Integration between cloud and on-premise environmentsExperience in working in a factory based modelExploring new Technology partnership options and driving them to completion.Establish excellent relationship with customer and other stakeholders.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Willingness to venture into new technical areas, explore and come out with technical solutions from a modernization and cloud enablement perspectiveInspire the team to come up with innovative solution options, Tools and best practices and lead them successfully till completion.
