Design Head

Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Our client is India's leading Vacuum and Process Solutions provider having experience in turnkey supply of customised Vacuum systems along with Booster, and process equipment.

Primary Objectives:

The Design Head will lead and manage the design process for critical projects, ensuring that all designs meet the highest standards of quality, adhere to international codes, and align with project timelines and budgets. This role requires close collaboration with clients and internal teams, managing design resources effectively, and ensuring seamless coordination across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in Design Codes: Ensure full compliance with international design codes for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
  • Proficiency in Design Software: Utilize and manage mechanical engineering design software, such as PV Elite, for the design of static equipment.
  • Material Selection: Oversee and ensure the proper selection of materials used in the design and construction of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and storage tanks.
  • Static Equipment Design: Lead the mechanical design process using specialized static equipment design software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and review equipment specifications, datasheets, procurement engineering documents, including tender documents, RFQs, work orders, technical bid analyses, and purchase recommendations.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure the successful integration of multi-discipline projects.
  • Equipment Load Estimation: Oversee the preparation and estimation of equipment loads and related calculations.
  • Bid Management: Lead the preparation, estimation, and approval of man-hour estimations for bids, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
  • Team Management: Provide leadership and guidance to the engineering and drafting teams, ensuring that delegated tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Core Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution (or equivalent).
  • Experience: 12-17 years of experience in static equipment design, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Rotating Equipment: Experience with rotating equipment such as ATFD, ATFE, and SPDU is a significant advantage.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrated competence in PV-Elite and other relevant design software.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage and oversee the complete Design-Check-Approve-Authorize cycle for static equipment, ensuring all designs meet quality and safety standards.
