Applying theory, data & intuition to make sound design & engineering judgements & proposals for centrifugal pumps and hydraulic equipment and systems.
Undertaking basic design calculations leading to robust design of efficient centrifugal pumps and hydraulic equipment and systems.
Guiding design analysis such as CFD and FEA for flow/performance validation, design analysis pertaining to rotodynamic studies, vibration, noise, etc to be undertaken through in-house or outsourced resources.
Identifying, planning, prioritising, and managing risk to deliver design engineering solutions on time, cost, and specifications, relevant standards.
Preparation of manufacturing drawings, raw material purchase specifications and providing manufacturing support.
Design and preparation of test beds for trials.
Conducting trials of prototype and production version equipment, analysing results and initiating remedial measures, if necessary.
Designing packing and transportation solutions.
Providing onboard installation and commissioning documentation.
Preparation of QAPs, ATPs.
Compiling design documentation, O&M manuals, PILs, catalogues.
Guiding & managing team of engineers & draftsman.
Reverse engineering the equipment based on site data.
Interacting with customers to understand the requirement, providing feedback, and addressing concerns promptly.
Interacting with suppliers.
Technical support to internal customers.
Working within TEIL processes, quality management system, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Contributing to the development of the team’s capability & growth by involving in developmental projects, providing constructive feedback to line-managers, as well as mentoring more junior members of the team.
Personality traits /competeencies:
Strong mechanical engineering design fundamentals to analyse complex requirements and arrive at technically sound solutions through research and collaboration, where necessary.
Knowledge and understanding of design standards relevant to centrifugal pumps and hydraulic systems.
Basic understanding of vibrations and rotor dynamics.
Knowledge of foundry, machining and fabrication processes.
knowledge and skill to work on AutoCAD and CREO /3D modelling software. 3D parametric design and models (preferable).
Basic understanding of Ansys analysis software such as Ansys Structural and CFD.
Hands on experience in automating calculations using MS Excel.
Knowledge of international design codes and standards.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities.
Result oriented and diligent.
A good team player and leader.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Desired Candidate Profile:
BE / B.Tech / M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
8-12 years of experience in the design and development of large rotodynamic mechanical equipment, especially centrifugal pumps and hydraulic systems for Defence Applications.
