1. JOB PURPOSE: Weare looking for an experienced PMO professional with direct handsonexperience ofrunning an IT project andprogramme delivery to head up the IT PMO.This person will manage a small PMO team responsible for ensuringthat planning governance and execution iseffective. They will ensure projects acrossthe portfolio comply with the PMO standardsandprocedures and providing insight tosenior management to help make strategicdecisionsaround project priorities riskissues resource management and corrective actionplans. The role will help to drive the newproject and portfolio management processes and will manage againstagreed KPIs to ensure that this is being doneeffectively. The individual will beresponsible for driving performance improvement across thekeyprocesses within the PMO; e.g. planning& estimating demand management&prioritization resource managementfinancial management risk managementresourcemanagement.Whilst the role is not directly responsible for the delivery ofprojects or the line managementof projectmanagers the PMO Manager will need to actively work with projectandprogramme managers to ensure robustproject management practices are beingfollowedaligned to the governance lifecycleand portfolio assurance processes tosupportconsistent highquality projectdelivery. It is a highly visible role andwill require regular engagement with the Departmental LeadershipTeam and other senior people within thedepartment. This role will have to trackanything from 5060 active projects.2.DESCRIPTION OFDUTIES:ManagementLeadership of the IT PMO function including managing motivating anddeveloping a smallteam of PMOprofessionals. Work to enhance thereputation and perceived value of the Program Management functionwithin and with its customers. Ensurecommunication to senior management andcolleagues Provide reporting and insightwhere required to Leadership Team asrequested. Ensure risks are effectivelycaptured and managed within the PMO function aligned withaudit.3GovernanceEstablish processes standards and guidelines around projectdelivery and work with theproject andprogramme delivery teams and senior management responsible forthedelivery to ensure governance frameworkis being correctly applied by projects.Coordinate and run governance meetings such as the Demand Reviewmtg or program Review Mtg and provide insight that drivesaction. Work alongside senior managementresponsible for delivery to identify where projects are at risk ofslippage against schedule or budget or have risks and issues whichare not being fully addressed. Ensure theactions log relating to corrective action plans for At riskprojects is visible and being addressed by the appropriateindividuals.Hold project managers to accountfor the quality of their deliverables.Conduct project audits and checkpoint assessments to ensureprojects are structured and managed appropriately to successfullymanage the risk of not delivering to time cost andquality. Facilitate Lessons Learnedworkshops and document findings as part of theorganizationallearning and continuousimprovement role of the PMO. Work with otherteam members such as Enterprise ArchitectureInformationGovernance & SecurityBusiness Analysts etc to roll out new processes and improvements toexistingmethodologies.ReportingManage processes to fulfil stakeholder reporting requirements andcompliance with project governanceprocedures. Provide insight to theleadership team by analysing information to provide astrategicoverview of all projects andinterdependencies reporting areas of concern themestrendsetc. Identifyand report deviations from baseline and trigger exception reportsand escalationswhereappropriate.
