Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Governance Engineer to manage and enforce governance policies across Mashreq’s hybrid data ecosystem. This role is pivotal in ensuring data quality, compliance, and security while supporting data platform operations as the first line of support. The ideal candidate should have expertise in Informatica EDC, Axon, and Azure Purview.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Governance Framework Implementation :
  • Implement data governance workflows using tools like Informatica Axon, EDC, and Azure Purview.
  • Define metadata management processes, ensuring data lineage and cataloging across hybrid environments.

Compliance Adherence :

  • Enforce regional compliance policies for data residency and access using Azure Sentinel and RBAC.
  • Monitor data governance metrics to meet regulations in regions like UAE, Pakistan, and India.

Operational Support :

  • Act as the first line of support for governance-related issues in data platforms.
  • Resolve data quality issues flagged during ETL workflows or ingestion processes.
  • Data Quality Management :
  • Automate data validation and anomaly detection workflows using PowerShell scripts and Azure Logic Apps.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to address quality issues in pipelines.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing :

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation in Confluence or Azure Wiki, covering governance policies, compliance rules, and issue resolutions.
  • Train users on governance tools and processes.

Continuous Improvement :

  • Recommend and implement automation to improve governance efficiency.
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills to ensure governance controls are maintained during failovers.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in data governance roles.
  • Hands-on experience with Informatica EDC, Axon, and Azure Purview.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks like GDPR and regional regulations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to support governance workflows as the first line.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of communicating to multiple stakeholders to ensure that data governance activities are functioning optimally
  • Experience with Informatica data platform tools, services.
