About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator with proven expertise in the Canadian trucking and transportation industry. This role is for a professional who can manage full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, and compliance independently — with precision and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for fleet operations and freight transactions.
- Process accounts payable/receivable, including fuel cards, permits, and vendor payments.
- Manage payroll, driver settlements, and reimbursements.
- Handle provincial fuel tax reporting and quarterly filings.
- Track equipment depreciation, maintenance costs, and compliance-related expenses.
- Reconcile bank/credit card accounts and prepare cash flow projections.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Ensure GST/HST, CRA, and year-end compliance, including audit support.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years bookkeeping/accounting experience in Canada (transportation/trucking experience strongly preferred).
- Proven track record of handling Canadian payroll administration.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online & Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian taxes and provincial fuel tax compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setup with minimal supervision.
- High ethical standards, confidentiality, and reliability.
