- Demonstrated experience in working with data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures with previous experience in implementing metadata management practices.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or industry-specific compliance standards.
- Strong analytical skills to identify data-related issues and propose effective solutions using specialized data governance tools, Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar.
- Ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable and comprehensive data governance policies.
- Knowledge of establishing clear data ownership and stewardship responsibilities.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing data quality assessment processes.
- Understanding of data security principles and experience implementing data security measures.
- Knowledge of access controls, encryption, and data masking techniques.

- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to align data governance policies with industry standards and regulations.
- Classify data based on sensitivity and criticality and define ownership responsibilities for different data assets.
- Work with business units to identify data stewards and establish clear accountability for data quality and integrity.
- Develop and maintain a metadata management framework to document data definitions, lineage, and usage within the organization.
- Implement tools and processes to capture and store metadata associated with data assets.
- Design and implement data quality assessment processes to identify and address data quality issues.
- Collaborate with data stewards and business units to establish and monitor data quality metrics.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data privacy and security measures are in place.
- Implement and monitor access controls, encryption, and data masking techniques to safeguard sensitive information.
- Conduct training sessions to raise awareness of data governance principles and practices.
- Provide guidance and support to employees on adhering to data governance policies.
- Continuously assess and enhance the data governance framework based on industry best practices and organizational needs.
- Work closely with business units, IT, legal, and compliance teams to foster a collaborative data governance culture.
- Communicate the benefits of data governance to stakeholders at various levels within the organization.
- A comprehensive understanding of the practical application of the GDPR or similar data privacy law, relating to the processing of personal data
- Able to exercise professional judgement in managing requests of, and communicating with, customers and regulators
