Eligibility norms to register as a Portfolio Manager with SEBI: The applicant is a body corporate The applicant should have necessary infrastructure like office space, equipment and manpower The applicant shall appoint a compliance officer The principal officer of the applicant has: A professional qualification in law, finance, accountancy, business management or has done CFA. He has an experience of at least five years in related activities in the securities market including in pm, stock broker, investment adviser, research analyst or as fund manager. Provided that at least 2 years of relevant experience is in portfolio management or investment advisory services or in the areas related to fund management. Has obtained NISM XXI-B. Apart from PO and CO, the applicant has in its employment atleast one person who is a graduate and has at least two years of experience in related activities in the securities market including in portfolio management, stockbroker, investment adviser, research analyst or as fund manager. If such person is a fund manager, he shall have same qualification, experience and certification as specified for PO The applicant fulfills the capital adequacy requirements i.E. Minimum networth of Rs. 5 crores NETWORTH=Paid-up equity capital + free reserves (excluding reserves created out of revaluation) – Accumulated losses – Deferred expenditure not written off (includes miscellaneous expenses not written off) Net worth requirements under PMS shall be separately and independently, of the capital adequacy requirements, if any, for each activity undertaken by the applicant under the relevant regulations The applicant, its director, principal officer, compliance officer or employees are not involved in any litigation/convicted of any offence involving moral turpitude. The applicant is a fit and proper person. Criteria for “fit and proper person” as per schedule II of the SEBI (Intermediaries) Regulations, 2008 (attached). Grant of a certificate to the applicant is in the interest of investors. Application Form A will have to be filed with SEBI (physical and online) along with the fee.
